sad day in sentiaville - back to the depot

well barely half a year old and as rad as my sentia has been, its also carried its share of excess baggage. today i discovered two dead pixels--one in the center, and one in box #2 (based on the aw dead pixel map).

perhaps a blessing in disguise as now aw will have the opportunity to investigate my other issues--rapidly deteriorating battery life (less than an hour) and poor/inconsistent wireless connectivity.

but sending my sentia back is a giant headache. its my main machine...all my apps, settings, email, files, music, etc that ill be w/o for "two weeks minimum" and all of which ill have to restore when i get my sentia back.

im bummed like a really bummed guy.

how has the turnaround time worked out for others who have had to ship their sentias back to the depot? someone provide me with some reassurance that my probs will be taken care of...

well i sent mine last week (wednesday I think) and it still hasn't got there yet. Tech told me the total turn around for screen replacement (I have dead pixels too) would be 3 weeks. That includes shipping. So, if you're having more stuff done, it may take longer but IDK YMMV

i got my sentia back today. the lcd was replaced...but there was a big white dead (lit) pixel (located in box 8) staring at me right when i turned the thing on. calling support right now...

follow-up: support wont allow a replacement because the dead pixel is not in the center of the screen. not unless i happen to get another dead pixel will i be able to send the laptop back for an lcd replacement. wtf? i send my laptop back for a repair and i get back...virtually the same flawed item.

almost makes you wish for a way to "create" a dead pixel, doesn't it?
