yes, definitely upgradeable. If you're going to upgrade, upgrade to a 7200rpm model. You'll see INCREDIBLE performance increases.

Around $160 for a Hitachi Travelstar 7k60 7200rpm 60GB notebook hard drive on eBay

You can put any size hard drive you want in there - but you'll have to take half of the machine apart to do so.

thank you guys but how about the ram how much does it cost to upgrade a 256 on it.
is it necessary that both rams(2*256)have the same brand like desktops?

I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong but as long as they have the same specs it shouldnt be a problem... Ususally best to stay with same brand though... Also this laptop uses micro SO-DIMM if memory serves correctly.

I don't know about 256MB, but a 512MB MicroDIMM from Kingmax is $130 on NewEgg.com. Same brand is preferred, but not really necessary anymore. It used to be a problem when there were no speficiations around memory timings. But newer memory must follow certain timing standards. If two memory modules are designed to the same spec, they are highly likely to be compatible.
