Laptop cooling pads

I'm looking to get one, not sure what to go with. For those M68xx users out there, what do you use and how well does it work? Whats the noise level like? Why did you originially decide to get one and was it worth it? Oh and if you have the pad on and you've got the laptop in your lap do you notice a huge difference in heat being absorbed into you with/without the pad?

ive got a bytec laptop cooler, it has 2 fans and is tilted so you can type better. cant really use it on a lap though. i bought it since i thought my new components would make it hotter. ive run some tests: without the cooler, the machine ranged from 38degrees C to 47degrees overclocked and on a full load. now on a cooler, it ranged about 35degrees to 44degrees max. its not a bad accessory for only 25 bucks. The temp gauges was taken from HD Tune 2.10.

and the 5400rpm hdd and pc3200 have not affected heat or battery life at all.

When plugged in, I use the Targus Chill Mat - the one without extra USB ports that grabs its power from the USB port it plugs into. http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PA248U

My system fan comes on less frequently with the chillpad in operation.

Do you use it in your lap?

I just recieved this cooler: http://www2.newegg.com/product/produ...82E16834997301 from newegg and it seems to keep my laptop (M6805) nice and cool. Works well in my lap also.

I use the targus chill mat also, and have used it in my lap. For the money, I think there are better choices, but I picked mine up for free with my reward zone coupons after buying the notebook. The Targus mat serves the purpose though. It is near silent (completely unnoticed). The main drawback is it's size. You need to be careful how you position the notebook on it. It is really a little too small, but all four fit will go (partially) on it. When I first started using it, I did notice a decrease in system fan usage.
