does anyone know if there will be any faster cpu's available for the 5670's

and...

is there a model or plan for cpu specs in the future for the 800FSB ?

the price of the 800FSB upgrade is well Pricey...if I can get a faster CPU for my 5670 next year that would be great. If the 3.06 is the top for this motherboard then I have to decide if I want to upgrade.

Well, a P4ee 3.6 will run in it, but not at 800FSB. It would be dropped to 533; thus no point to get it. :P

Anyway, the 533 chips have long stopped producing... :P

thanks for the reply, I understand dropping the speed of the cpu but in a year if there are 4.8 or 5.2MHz CPU's even running at 533 it would be a lot faster. Even with hyperthreading, certain apps spike and keep the cpu over 80% now.

Thanks again, just trying to weigh my options. I think I will wait a year or so and buy a new one and give this 5670 to my wife.

Cheers,

Dont worry mate, i understand where you are coming from for sure.

One thing to keep in mind though, is that the P4s time is almost up. The next chip is named the Prescott, and only the first version will fit in our motherboards anyway.

Now, if i were in your position, i would consider something like a 2.4 or 2.6 800FSB. Why? Well, the increased FSB and memory speed will more than make up the difference for the .4Ghz lost. And the 2.4/2.6s arent too expensive.

thanks for the information.

when I bought mine, I got an extra AC power pack, the DC one for the car. Did not buy extra battery. Now that they have changed the bottom, and the battery would my 4000mha battery work, and would my AC and DC adapters work? And the warranty on the new MB drops down to 1 yr, I purchased extended 3 yr. warranty. Just doesn't seem to make sense to upgrade and throw this stuff in the trash can.
