I cant seem to get my mic to work with my new 8890. It works fine on my desktop but not my 8890. I can barely hear myself when I record my voice. I have tried a ton of settings in audio properties including selecting mic and not selecting mic.

Anyone else have this prob?

Go into the advanced properties for the microphone using the Volume Control utility. Inside there is a checkbox for "1x mic boost", make sure that it is checked.

there is an old problem with the 88xx series where u have to have ur tv tuner on to get ur mic to work. i believe its still present in the 8890.

Actually, that's not true. I can record through any source I want without the TV tuner software even installed. It's a matter of selecting the correct source in the control panel...

I can record ...the problem is it is very faint. I am sure it is not the mic as I checked it on my desktop and also my other laptop. In both cases it worked fine. On the 8890 the sound is very faint when I try and record.
