Dell Tools System Software

Which build of the Dell Tools System Software CD did everyone get? Mine is Build 484 which is dated August 13, 2004, long before the XPS GEN 2 was avaliable. So I think I got an outdated CD.

Did anyone get a more recent version that I should be asking for? The main thing I want off it is the Dell Media Experience so the front buttons will work. On this CD the Dell Media Experience is Rev A04. Thanks!

Could someone check their Dell Tools System Software CD build version real quick to let me know? (Either the build version that it displays when the CD launches or the Revision and Date on the CD iteslf would be helpful.)

All that does is install the usb stuff if you dont have sp2 installed. They probably use the same usb controllers that they first used.

Hi - I am acutally talking about the CD that has things like Dell Media Experience (needed for the front buttons), Dell Support, MusicMatch, etc. I basically just want to be sure I have the newest release of Dell Media Experience since this seems to be requried for the media keys. However when the CD loads and displays the software it contains - the title bar reads Resource CD, Build 484, Auguest 13, 2004. This seems to indicate the CD pre-dates the release of the GEN 2 - so it would not have the most recent version of the software.

Bingo - thanks! How did you get it to show up under the DOWNLOAD section? When I put in my service tag in and selected my O/S it did not show this as a selection.

EDIT: I take it back - I see that one too. However I am looking for Dell Media Experience, which is required by Dell MediaDirect (unless you have Windows Media Center).

Check this post and see if it's the same version as the one they sent you. This is the version I installed after reformatting my 9300.

Thanks BlastTyrant! I checked - yes that is the one they sent me. So you are under the impression this is the latest version?

I think so, but I can't say for sure since I didn't get a CD... It would be strange if they sent two different people (you and niick) the same outdated version. For what's it's worth, I used DME before and after doing the fresh XP installation and as far as I can tell this version is exactly the same as the one that came preinstalled.
