Inspiron 8600 - Next track media button stuck and not working!

I've just noticed my next track button feels a lot more springy and doesn't click when depressed like the others, it's also no longer working.

Is there any way to fix this, and is it covered under warranty? Not sure if I'd send it in just for that though, but interested to know as it's rather annoying.

The media buttons are part of the palm rest and can be easily replaced. Yes, you can contact dell and have them sent you a palm rest replacement (better have the part number ready - see bay-wolf.com for part numbers).

As for doing the replacement, you can do it yourself but that part is most likely not user servicable (technician is supposed to replace it). That said, you don't void your warranty if you replace it yourself - only if you break something in the process. If you want the technician to do it, you will either have to send it or a technican will come over..depending on wether you have the home or mail-in service.

But before doing all that, I'd take the palmrest out and see if I can fix that button from under neath.

Thanks for the assistance, is there a guide anywhere for how to disassemble the palm rest?

Much appreciated.
