Sager 4750/Clevo D470K with AMD Turion?

Thread Starter
Has anyone purchased the Sager 4750/Clevo D470K with the AMD Turion Mobile processor, or replaced their Athlon processor with the Turion?

(Like this one at <a href = "http://www.gamepc.com/shop/systemfamily.asp?family=noteb2"gamepc.com</a>)

I'd like to get or create some comparative heat/speed benchmarks, and find out if it's worth swapping out the Athlon for the Turion to reduce heat issues.

Hi:

Thanks for emailing!

Yes, out GPN-A64C model is based on Clevo's OEM chassis. The GPN-A64C supports both Socket-754 Mobile Athlon64 and Turion64 processors. The majority of Athlon64 laptops will be able to support upgrades to Turion64 processors as well, we typically all that is needed is a BIOS update to support the new AMD "E-Stepping" processor which the Turion64 is based upon.

We currently do not have an ETA on a Turion64 based notebook with PCI Express graphics.

Hope this helps!

hopefully what that means is our current A64s will be upgradeable to turion if we can find a bios update
