RAM for a 8890?

Thread Starter
How much RAM can an 8890 take, and what are the specs on it?

I'd like to buy some to replace what's in it and upgrade the amount.

Is it a standard RAM or a proprietary?

Thanks,
-Jon

It can take 2 1GB sticks of SODIMM ram. Be careful to get the correct CAS rated memory if you are going that route. RAM is standard - please note cautionary statement.

2 Gb (2 X 1 Gb Stick) Are you sure because i 've read that we can only have ddr 400 2 X 512 Mb or ddr 333 2 X 1 Gb.
But i'm not sure for ddr 400 2 X 1 gb stick ...
Can you confirm ?

Must remember that at the time the 8890 came out that the ddr400 1GB sticks were not really available and when they were available were very very expensive. The ddr333's provided an alernative even though, they too, were very dearly priced.

Can't say for sure.

So YES or NOT ?

Different Business with a different profit margin, etc. Try buying a Sager through Newegg and see what it costs. Also, the memory that Newegg sells may or may not work correctly with Sager Laptops (a bit of "Buyer Beware").

Yep! Me too

I second that:

AND YES 2 gigs does make a difference; mostly in photoshop or app development. I am running Oracle 10g on a laptop quite nicely.

Just my 2 cent

3200; The BIOS always supported it, but it was not available when the 8890 first came out. Now it is available and at a reasonable price.

I added an NEC 8x dvd burner ($100 from newegg) as well and I could not be happier.
