I'm using 1920x1200 with 120 dpi. 96 is just too microscopic.

The WUXGA and Text...

Best solution for the 1920 X 1200 display is to run at 120 DPI Use standard sized Text, and then from the appearance menu, adjust every 10 pt. text setting to 12 pt. and adjust every 8 pt. setting to 10 pt.

It's all what your used to. 1920x1200 @ 96dpi looks big compared to my Axim X50v with a 3.7" screen at 640x480. On the other extreme, I've seen people run 22" monitors at 800x600. Icons look over an inch tall.

I'll admit the 1920x1200 at 96 dpi isn't as bad with our 17" displays as it was for me on my 9100 with the 15.4.

I wish I could read this thread, but the text is just too tiny.

Forget 120 DPI as I am styling at 144 DPI (at 1920 * 1200) and it looks awsome! I use an extenal keyboard so I am back from the notebook probably a little futher than most.

anettis - I am still at 120 DPI - got it to work seamlessly with IE 6.0 and I do use the external Keyboard like you do - My favorite is a black USB Keyboard I got from Dell a long time ago.....
It saves me from wearing out my Laptop keyboard - and it's much easier to type on.....

I'm running 144DPI too (add that to the poll). I also sit back a bit from the machine and will be using an external keyboard.

I've started using Firefox as my main browser on my XPS 2. It seems to handle resizing better than IE6 (and I did change the large font registry setting).

tahomahi i hope you can read this sonic wind. And the only reason I'm messaging is so the post returns to the top of the page and more people participate in the vote. More participants the clearer the numbers.

i love 1920*1200 @ 96dpi. I moved from a 17inch desktop at 1280 * 1024 and i thought that was comfortable. After using the laptop display im never going back, It seems HUGE!

How come in this MS article it seems like it says increasing the DPI actually REDUCES text size. Which is it? Does it increase or decrease text size?

I think they are saying that newer monitors that employ a high DPI have smaller text and by boosting the DPI setting you can compensate i.e. make the text proportionately larger.
