I like the black trim. I probably won't do this myself on account of my own laziness, but if I ever wanted to, I'd do this!

On the other hand, I'm going to a LAN party with a whole bunch of friends, so if I'm made fun of enough because of the white then maybe I'll do this.

it's not hard to answer my question either.i dont WANT all the black parts that are shown. i only want some of them. therefore it'd be helpful to know how the parts on the list correspond to the parts in the pictures. thank you.

To answer some of the unanswered questions:

- It was a pretty straight-forward procedure that took less than an hour. Dell makes pretty good service manuals that help a lot.
- You can get the parts by calling the spare parts number I provided in the first post.
- Cost for the XPS2 steel lid is about $80 (I decided to pass)

I've updated the first post with better descriptions of the parts.

thank you for updating your original post. it was very helpful. so i guess it's not as easy to taking out the white trim and replacing it with black trim, is it. you gotta replace all the guts into a new chassis.

I have scratched my XPS2 quite bad on the steel lid. Anybody know if it is possible to get this part in the UK.

F8469 ASSY,CVR,LCD,17,ATCT,XPS-G2

I called Dell UK and they were not very helpfull at all. He said they dont sell that part to retail

I would love to get this thing looking back to normal

Cheers for any info

no they are two different version of 6800

XPS2 is Ultra, and that's a big difference when it comes to gaming.
LOL, replace everything with the stuff on that list and you got whats looks to be an XP2G2 for the price of the 9300!. Wish I could do that on the 700m. Its an awesome machine, just never liked the white trim.

Yes. The Ultra is more than just a higher clocked card, too. It's got 16 pixel pipelines, as opposed to "only" 12 for the 6800 (non Ultra).
