Im having serious slowdowns in games lately...
(this is with a 1st gen iXPS with a m9800 ATI card)
When I join a Hl2 game, Im around the 60-70'ish frames per second, but 30 mins later Im lucky if I hit more then 15 in a gunfight (and Im not dramatising here) ...
Ive tried toning down the setings to a really low level, and even at the worst resolution, my FPS is just miserable...
Ive come to the conclusion it might be overheating when I tried overclocking my card a bit higher to at least go over the bar of 20's ...
It worked for about 5 min, running a few FPS higher, but then it gradualy became worse. From 20 down to 10 and then 5, it went down even lower....
Now I know my laptop isnt THAT hot... The palm rest is just "warm-ish" and the air coming out of the vents is not what Id call hot.. In fact, my desktop CRT screen is much warmer then any parts of my laptop.
Id be open to any suggestions as to what the problem might be, but basing myself on the overheat idea; Is there any ways to get over this major slowdown by either stopping the downclocking or by at least make it much higher ?
Thanks !
Edit : Oh and the fans always blow somewhat loud (I can hear them trough my headphones
)
