Greetings,

Well I been brooding over whether to get a laptop and what type. I want one thats cheap but can play the latest and greatests games while on the road. The 9300 fits the bill. I know I could probably find these answers if I searched through the forums but Im to anxious to research them all. I WANT TO ORDER NOW ..........So here goes.

First I could have sworn I configured a I9300 a few weeks ago for about $1500 with everything I wanted in it. Has the prices of components went up? I can't get it under $1600
1.6 gig proc/1gig of ram/60 gig hard drive/6800 go video/cdburner/dvd combo

Which options are you finding cheaper the outlet or buying new?

Is the price the best its going to get for the forseeable future?

Im a gamer, is the 7200rpm drive worth the $130 price tag?

Can I upgrade the processor down the road?

Memory, get it from Dell or somewhere else? If somewhere else what are the exact specs needed for this laptop? Ive tried searching through newegg but the laptop memory is confusing me.

Is any (new or refurbed) Dell laptop returnable for a full refund?

think that covers it. Thanks!

Get the computer with a low end drive and get a 40- GB or 60 GB HD and an external enclosure. Then throw the Dell drive in the enclosure and put the new 7200rpm you just bought into the machine. I would go with 1 GB now. Pull the trigger man. It's a good deal...

Ok to answer what I can..

Yes the prices have gone up slightly.

Drop the 1GB upgrade and order the laptop with 256MB, Dell rapes you on memory upgrades. I just paid $260 for 2GB of ram shipped from newegg. Same upgrade from Dell would have cost me $1000.

Outlet is hit and miss, sometimes you can sometimes you can't.

Prices always flucuate on Dells its hard to tell what the best deal is today, or down the road.

Yes you can upgrade the processor, Even do a pinmodded processor is easy.

You can buy the 400FSB/2M Pentium M and with 1 wire save yourself hundreds over the higher priced processors.

And here is the link to the ram you need at Newegg

Newegg 200Pin SoDimm DDRII PC-4200

I highly recommend the Trandscend 1GB Modules. at $132.50 per GB they are the cheapest around. I paid $130/w Free Shipping Last Week.

Snag it before the prices go up..

Hope this answers some of your questions..

If you are a gamer go ahead and Opt for the 60GB 7200 RPM up front, as far as the RAM configure it with the minimum and purchase your additional RAM from Newegg.com or Zipzoomfly.com has 512MB corsair sticks for $80 a pop and free shipping. As far as the price keep an eye on this website and you can find some $750 off coupons which can be stacked with a big bucks coupon $35 off coupon that can be purchased on eBay for $.99, also if you get approved for a Dell prefered account you can also find either 2%-10% off the laptop as well. To answer you question about their price's going up I think they have slightly went up, and about upgrading the processor I doubt that's going to be an option. Hope this helps. Just got mine yesterday and I love it!
