Volume Control

i have a problem with the sound. when i double click the volume icon in the system tray the volume control doesn't come up. Anyone else have these problems and how did you fix it?

Control Panel

If its Windows XP but it might be the same for any Windows anyway, My Computer+Control Panel+Sounds,Speech, and Audio Devices+Sounds and Audio Devices.

I went there and clicked on Advanced but the volume control still didnt come on.
