I will be performing a similar experiment complete with pictures soon, except for my Acer Travelmate 8103. Keep your eyes open for the thread.

EDIT: I just got my 400FSB 1.8GHz processor today. It's time to perform some experiment!

I would reccomend using Artic Silver 5 for your heat sink, this would definetly help with that

I have that same "flickering" problem with scrolling on my M6Ne too... I think it has to do with the refresh rate of the LCD panel; after all, we're running very high resolutions

ya i turned down the resolution.. it doesn't flicker
but of course other resolutions are not usable

Man, why ya'll screen flicker when scrolling is beyond me. Mine have no problem what so ever in that sense.

This is what I did. Bought the system w/o any OS. WHen I got the machine, I did this

1) Install WinXP SP2
2) Install nVidia Video Driver
3) Install Intel INF
4) Install WIFI
5) Install Media Card Reader INF

That was it, I did not install the scrolling software, nor did I install Asus PowerGear.

hey smilepak....i read another post of urs somewhere where u said u found a good resolution for it. It was like 10** x 7** (Cant remember exactly). Anyways, how can i get my screen to that res? U had a link in there that windows had directions for. It said like go to appearance and themes. Then said to select cleartype or something. I dont have cleartype on my comp...at least not where that website stated to go for it. Can you help me out? Thanks.

There was two resolutions. I found one and someon found another one.

1280 x 960
1366 x 768

It is a little blurry, but okay. I sort of got use to the native resolution now and using it all of th etime...

On the thread topic note:

1cent have you run prime95 to check for its stability?
Just curious 1CenT, since you're having some minor difficulties with the z71v , if you had to do it all over again what other laptop would have you purchased??

whitewind.. i ran prime95 for ~6 hours.. it got to 68 degrees.. no errors
i've been working on it for a few days.. no problems

darkplayer
my only issue is the screen..
it is not an issue.. just that it isn't that great..
i would get the asus v6v or asus w3v.. before z71v.. but the price isn't reasonable for the other 2
x600 would do fine.. i'll prefer a laptop i little bit smaller..
i also like the acer travelmate 8104 but i dunno how good the screen on that 1 is..

I live in Canada, and I don't know how I can get one of these. Are there any Canadian retailers or ways of ordering online, preferably where warranties can be handled without international shipping?!?!?
z71v is already in canada....you should look around more carefully
post #40 of 63
but where? I can't find anything except for a bare bones on the internet, and that isn't gonna work for me.
