9300 Owners, ever wish you had went XPS2?

This is sort of the counterpart thread to "XPS2 owners, ever wish you went 9300"

So tell me, if you own a 9300 do you wish you had went with the XPS2 instead?

For the graphic card?
Gigabit ethernet?
Cool LEDs?

Absolutely not. My 9300 is just perfect as it is and I just can't imagine someone would ever need a more powerfull graphics card for today's most demanding game. And I still didnt even tweak it to get maximum performance, i get a poor 2900 at 3d mark 2005 with Dell default drivers. Of course the XPS is a bit more future proof.

As for the LEDs, I work in an engineering firm with lots of contact with clients. I think the colored mega funky LEDs would look a little funny in that context.

And as for the gigabit ethernet, I think 100mbs is plenty fast 99% of the time. As for the other 1% of the time, then I just go get a cofee and come back for the transfer to finish

Only for the 6800 Ultra. I use mine as an AutoCAD workstation so the extra graphics power would be nice. Honestly, I went with the 9300 (2.0GHz, 2GB memory, 7200RPM HDD) simply because the XPS looks like a kids machine. I didn't need the LEDs or the tanning bed case.

yes..

Gigabit ethernet is pointless for most people. And the XPS2 is ugly as hell and doesn't work very well on battery power, which is part of the reason I wanted a notebook computer. I don't go to fragfests or lan parties so the 9300 is the perfect machine for me. And I paid $1400 for mine... not bad for a machine which can play HL2, Doom3, and play WMV HD movies at their full resolution.

The Ultra is a nice card but it sucks power, and the modularity of the 9300 means that if a newer card comes out with lower power consumption, I can probably pop it in my computer. And I'm still in the 21 day honeymoon, so if I really wanted an XPS2, I could return my computer and get it next week. Since I haven't done it, I guess I'm happy with my 9300.

I'm a former 9300 owner who switched to the dark side.

I have no regret in spending the extra $$$

i really like my 9300. i hear the XPS is thicker. Same settings and everything. only reason why i might get it is ifs it from the outlet. being that its cheaper. but the LED's i dont like. I do like the black trim instead of my white trim. And i was going to get an XPS only for a reason to say i got the top of the line dell laptop instead of the 2nd best. lol

I love the black trim so much more than the white also but thats of course my opinion.

who was the one on here with a 9300 with a black trim? i saw it somewhere before. i never knew how he did it

If I had the money. In my current state (college, 6'o'clock-drunk) I would not have traded my 9300 for my toilet paper.

i have 3 friends who have 9300's, i cancelled my 9300 order to get the XPS2 epp deal. i am very happy with my decision. honestly before you say that the led's make the laptop look "like a kids machine" or they look funky. you should check it out in person, the led's can be shut off, dimmed down, and they really make the laptop look nice. the top finish of the laptop is really clean looking, its a flat brushed aluminum or something and it looks bomb. for the price difference, i was willing to step up to an xps2 and am glad i did.

I prefer my 9300 way more than the XPS2, which I have access to! I dont like the XPS2 logo and I prefer the white artic silver combination better. I also noticed that the XPS2 makes more noise and dissipates more heat than the 9300 when idle!

I'm happy with my 9300 because I really don't care for the one choice of display they offer with the XPS 2. The fonts at 96dpi are almost unreadable (to me) and I really dislike all glossy screens. Would have been great to see a non-glossy WSXGA option.

As for the LED's...well, I've seen them in person and the only reason I would have something like that is to impress my kids...which does have some value to me.

I have a XPSGen1 more than happy with it I recently just purchased a 9300 instead of the XPS2 because of the looks and really not worth the extra money for such alitte performance increase.
Not at all. The XPS is fugly, the power supply is cumbersome, and the LEDs are tacky. The performance gains with the better vid card aren't necessary for me because I'm not a gamer anyhow.

If I had to do it all again and score ANY laptop on the market right now, it would be an I9300 again. I love this thing and get compliments on it all the time, especially comments re: the LG screen. This is the best machine I've used, and I've used many.

I love my 9300. This was the EXACT combination of power, portability, and styling I had been hoping for. I have had them all : I9100(XPS 1 basically since it had the MR9800), eMachines m6805 and m6811, I8600 (now my wife's), an I9200 (TERRIBLE screen), and this. As much ragging as I took for my XPS buzz thread, peole were right. Having the 9300, I would not look back and would be drooling with envy had I kept the 9200. The XPS2 is a great gamer's machine, but this machine is no slouch and has WAY better battery life and options overall. Thank you Dell...

I kinda wish I was able to get on an outlet deal on an XPS2. MegaGT got a killer deal. Go ultra would be the reason.

I love my 9300. It is perfect to say the least. The only thing I like about the XPS2 are the LEDs and the graphics card. If the 9300 comes with those, it will be the ultimate lappy, bar none. Personally, I prefer the white arctic silver combo than the XPS2 case. My 9300 is equipped with the Cherrywood quicksnap cover so just to protect the LCD back. Also, the 9300 is lighter and has much better battery life than the XPS2.

It's rather simple actually.

If you are a moderate to serious gamer, you get the XPS2. The XPS2 has significantly better framerates than its little brother.

Otherwise you go for the 9300.
