Sentia - Where's the Smart Link Modem?

My modem has disappeared on my Sentia! This may be connected to my installation of PdaNet, which enables you to use your cell phone to dial up the Internet ... not very fast, but usable. The Phone and Modem Options in the Control Panel showed the PdaNet modem. The Smart Link modem showed "not present." I downloaded the latest modem drivers from the Alienware site, and even uninstalled PdaNet. But the Smart Link modem still reads "not present."

I've tried running a hardware installation search, but it turns up nothing. What am I missing here?

alien abduction

I hate to be a smartass but, maybe it was an alien abduction. Or maybe the sentia got ticked off about the pda ? Seriously though, I had a similar issue with my old thinkpad and no matter what I did the modem would not show up. I then did a restore to a date prior to installing the pda software and viola the modem was there and functional.
