Hey,
I am going to China soon to work and I was wondering can anyone recommend a portable surge protector and travel plug adaptor for the inspiron 9300. So far the only thing ive found is the kensington surge protector they offer at dell and a kensington travel plug adapter, but the travel adapter only seems to be two pronged when the 9300 power supply is 3 pronged. Suggestions.....

Thanks again.

thanks for the link to the surge protector but again
the power cord to the i9300 its three pronged but its not clover shaped

the three prongs are all horizontal to each other, its an unusual design and thats why im finding it so hard to get a decent surge protector for it

how do i post pics?

go to www.imageshack.us
browse to find where the pic is stored on your laptop and then hit 'host it'
After it has uploaded it will take you to a page containing links to your uploaded image
copy the 'forum 1' link and paste it in your post.
That will provide a clickable thumbnail of your image.

This might be a custom connector.
It is definately not on the International Standardized Appliance Connectors (IEC-320) Reference Chart

Are there any markings on the connector?

Everything I have managed to find so far indicates that this is a very non standard connector.
My suggestion would be to do the surge protection at the other end and ignore this unusual connector.
This link goes to a travel kit that is pretty much anything to anything and includes a surge protector and power conditioning capacitor within the adapter body.

I believe china uses the ST-6, ST-7 and ST-16 adapter plates from the kit.
The link below tells you everything you need to know about different countries mains

I am presuming that your mains adapter is multi voltage (usually labelled 100v-240v) as China is 220v.
If not you will also need a step-down transformer
