need advice on which to get

ok i have a mac mini and 3 pcs (2 laptops)

i'm thinking about getting either a 12" powerbook or 20" cinema display.

i have a pc desktop that i just cannot sell b/c i use it for video editing and capturing, and it has a 17" flat panel monitor. i could put the 20" on this system

the mac mini has a 15" flat panel. not really big enough

the 2 laptops i have are an AW area-51m (older model) and HP dv1040us. i don't really use the AW that much anymore, but i take the HP to class everyday for notes and stuff.

considering all i currently have, which would you advise me to get?

i guess it depends on what you feel u need to add to your repertoire. based on your experience w/ the mini i'd ask whether you are interested in taking that experience w/ u on the go. if u feel all of your needs are taken care of w/ re: to computing, i'd say go for the monitor. if u r looking, as noted to be able to expand on your Mac experience, i'd go w/ the PB. for example if u get the PB you could rig a KVM to use your 17"LCD w/ both systems. if u get the LCD u get eye candy but potentially don't add to your computing resources. oh yeah, also consider how Tiger might also add to your experience as well.

personally after reading the following article i'd suggest taking a hard look at the Dell 20" widescreen monitor. apparently it can be had for almost 1/2 of what the ACD goes for, and according to Anand, it uses the very same panel.

heck, maybe w/ the Dell you could splurge for both!

well there is a huge gap in price there if your a student you can get a powerbook for 1399 or a 20inch screen for 699 so basically you are spending double the lcd if you get the powerbook. if i were you i'd sell away that HP and the AW laptops, keep your pc desktop and then get a powerbook to take to class with you. then with the money you get from those other laptops buy your powerbook and maybe get a 20inch dell lcd it will be alot cheap than buying the 20inch from apple.

thanks for the replies. i can't say about my experience with the mini yet b/c i plan on upgrading to 1 gb of ram this summer when i can afford it. but i do want a powerbook. i do like the usb and firewire ports and the looks of the apple. and the price did come down some. yes i do have the education discount. it'd be hard to sell my laptops
