X50 vs. Z71V vs. W3V

Hello All,

The time has come for me to part ways with my 8050. I've decided i want something lighter (there is room for compromise). I'm not a hardcore gamer but would like to be able to play the newest and greatest (might compromise here as well). Cutting edge technology is a must and i'm going with INTEL. I've settled on the above systems as the main contenders (please feel free to suggest any others). Here are my thoughts:

1. The X50 would be perfect if it had better than X600 graphics. I could deal with modest gains going from this to the next best but DOUBLE the power?!?!
2. The Z71V could be lighter and thinner but specs are near perfect (don't need X800/6800).
3. The W3V would be cool but for the screen resolution. I know its a smaller screen but i still feel the resolution is a tad small. (WXGA on my MITAC really annoys me ).
4. I like the 6 pin firewire on the X50 and it ties with the W3V on looks.
5. Price is not a huge issue at the moment.

I'd just like to bounce my thoughts off some of you and see what suggestions you have.

Thanks in advance.

I feel the same as you. But, I have the Acer TM8104 on my list as well. I wish it was slightly smaller as with the Z71V.

On your list I think the Z71V is the best. If the X50 had an X700 I'd be buying one, though. Personally I'm holding out to a laptop similar to the Z71V or 8104 w/a built-in expresscard and a dvi out (and hopefully marginally lighter, but that might be wishful thinking).

This would be soo much simpler if samsung released an X60
I know intellectually i should probably just get the X50 as i'm no hardcore gamer but i just want a good graphics card. Oh yeah i'm not excited about the DVD burner on the X50 either.....

But the main thing wrong about the Samsung for me is the extortionate price. Who are they trying to fool?

1700GBP doesn't seem so bad. My silly Mitac cost more than that. Sure it was specced out but....

Can you get the Samsung x50 in the US? It looks like almost exactly what I'm looking for.

its a shame that asus made a BEAUTIFUL lappy in the w3v, and then skimped on looks for the more powerful z71v

lol, it's funny cause it's true. my almost 2 year old presario locks all the time, especially if i game on it. and already a usb port and the ethernet port have stopped working. the damn fans are ALWAYS on too, and my gf said it sounded like a jet engine. i got it sittin on top of my morrowind GOTY double cd case for ventillation. when the hurricanes rolled through here last year i PRAYED something bad would happen to it

The preview at Infosync and a PDF of specs say that the x50 has the x700 as an option.

However, I've only seen two configs in Europe, and both are listed with the x600. This is strange because the model with the higher specs ups everything else (processor, RAM, HDD, screen) and costs an arm and a leg.

Hmm, not too bad if you could get that. But it is just such a pricey laptop even in Europe. And that dynamism site or whatever that sells them to the US is totally absurd.

Yeah i saw that as well but have been unable to find it sold anywhere with the X700. I notice its sold in parts of Europe with the WXGA
