Sony S-360 vs. Asus w3v (For College) - Page 3

stupid sony has everything propriatary, i will never buy anything related to memory stick simply because the design is crap, SD is truley universal, a hellva lot more devices use SD, so if it were up to me i would get the asus, you get a real *multicard* reader instead of a MS/MSpro/MSduo reader or whatever, you get 4x usb with the asus, better reliability, better looking unit,

shuki - any chance of getting a full review of the w3v? I know many forum members would like one. Also, is the w3v the darker one like on proportables website, or is the inside sort of grey/silvery? Thanks for all the info and keep those opinions on these two laptops (sony s-260 and w3v) coming.

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I am no where experienced enough of a laptop user to give a full review. However, here are my sources:

This is the definite source for all asus laptop info:

and this post has a review of W3V. It is of the Dutch version. It is identicle externally to the US model.

I bought my laptop from proportable.com.

I have my W3V now and I like it very much.

Although I'm no expert on laptops (this is my 2nd laptop) I'll try to do a full review as soon as I can, probably sometime this weekend.

Although I've heard complaints about the vertical viewing agle, it seems very good to me, at least it is better than my old Dell Inspiron 8100. In general, I'm very happy with the screen. Glare is usually not noticable in most cases, and colors look very bright. The white looks much whiter than on my Dell. The resolution is just right for the screen size (My dell was 1600x1200, and I usually lowered the resolution).

Definately gets warm, just to the right of the touchpad, and blows fairly warm air out to the right. It doesnt bother me, even when I use a mouse. The fan is very quiet, I only notice it when there is little to no background noise level.. Right now I cant hear the fan over the refridgerator 1 room away.

I've mostly used it on AC power, didnt get a chance to fully use up the battery yet. I think someone wrote somewhere that they watched a DVD just over 2hrs completely on one batter charge. If that is the case, It should get at least 2:30 for normal use. I'll test that soon.

read your review, excellent job. I have decided to go with the w3v as well and will post a review most likely next weekend. Ill try to compare some aspects of the w3v to the sony s-360 i messed around with in best buy today. Thanks for all of the input guys.
