ok guys this is it. which is the best, hands down, mother of all pwnage gaming laptop less than 17 inch?

i would guess:

1) Dell M70 - game? on a workstation? qua?
2) Sager 7620 - even though no one has it
3) Asus z71v - can we say bang for the buck?
4) Acer 8103/04 - same as above, just more expensive, loses big points not being customizable
5) Sager soon to be new 3790 - would be second but loses points because sager needs to hurry the **** up and release the damn thing already
6) Sager 4880 - bad screen, heavy

missing any?

I'd guess the 7620, if you don't care about an hour's worth of battery life.

You forgot the TM8100 or are you intentionally leaving it out?

I've been looking @ Asus z80k (athlon 64), IBM thinkpad s2, r51, & T43, PowerPro A 2:21, Sager NP4880 (this one looks really good: x700, 2.0GHz "Sonoma"... for 1,568.00).

Just my .02ยข

Thinkpads are definately not gaming notebooks.

The wieght and thickness is what kills the NP4880 for me. Otherwise it would be perfect.

missing any?
You do know that DDR 333 Ram is just as good as DDRII 533 right? You do know about latency timings and so forth right?

dell M70? ne of the best graphics card, although not technically a 'gaming' laptop.

yeah, but people but its a thing different between them. other then the ram, and the poor screen quality, the two lappys are pretty much equal. its just a preference call after those 2 between nvidia and widescreen or ati and normal screen. i had to judge on something, so i picked the screen quality and memory. though now i know weight is another issue

aside from those little issues, those 4 lappy's are so close to each other in pure performance, its just little things like screen quality etc that make the decision, but im sure some people will flock to the 4880 due to it's 4:3 ratio. with all the hype that the z71 v got, i think that the bad screen and other issues really hampered it's performance, otherwise we'd hear more about it

yea, a dell M70's on par w/ a XPS2 and it's under 17"

is the quadro 1400 based of the 6600 or the 6800, cause if it's the latter, i might have to put it high in that list. gaming laptop or no, if it's based off the 6800 i would imagine it would do better than the x700 or 6600. michealX30, whadya think?

The quadro is pretty damn powerful, more powerful than the 6600go and X700, probably near the 6800go, ask the M70 guys what benchmarks they are getting.

hmmm, bump it to #2 guys? whadya think?

also, what do you think about the 7620. its number one for the x800, but no one seems to have it?
The quadro 1400 is the engineering equivalent of the 6800go. It does better at CAD, Maya and stuff like that, but its basically on par w/ the 6800go.

Needless to say, if u have one, it will not disapoint.

I got mine a number of weeks back on 35% off with a free docking station. No idea when the next one will come around...

Like the latitudes, it's tough to find good coupons for the precisions.

Wait a moment, isnt quadro a non gaming hardware and as such not optimized for gaming. I doubt its on par with 6800go. Any benchmarks?

Asus Z71V
Acer 8103/8104
