I was looking for something that would definately have no problems drawing enough power from any USB port (and didn't drain my battery to much) and was very small. I narrowed it down to two choices...
The Smartdisk Firefly which is compatible with all versions of windows from 98SE thru XP as well as MacOS and comes in 20gb size.http://www.smartdisk.com/eWeb/smartd...traPortHDD.asp
And the Apricorn EZ-USB Mini which comes in both 20gb and 40gb sizes, however it only supports Windows 2000 and XP.http://www.apricorn.com/product_details.php?ID=414
Both utilize 1.8gb hard drives and are VERY small. I went with the Apricorn because it was available in 40gb size, came with some cool software, has the USB cord built in so there is nothing else to carry and has a $35 rebate (until 5/9) which made my price about $150 after buying from Dell Small Biz when they had the 25% off storage products coupon.
Oh yeah, and they have nicer ad's
btw: If you really need 60gb, Smartdisk also makes a larger drive called the Firelite which comes in 40, 60 and 80gb sizes. It is similar to the Firefly, but bigger and it uses 2.5" hard drives. They also come with 'power cords' to patch into a PS/2 port if they can't draw enough power from the USB port. Apricorn has a similar series of drives also which range from 20-100gb.http://www.apricorn.com/shopping.php?ID=171
