Longevity/Durability of 9300

Hey there guys, I have the 9300 with the Geforce 6800 Go. I was just wondering what the longevity/durability of this laptop is. I would think with the Geforce 6800 Go the longevity would decrease due to the extra heat produced by this powerful video card. I really cherish this laptop as this is my first laptop and i love electronics. I would just like to know how long this thing would last because ive been very very very cautious with it and i just wanna know if its really unneeded.

I have never heard of laptops breaking after a few years because of component wear and tear from heat. Yes, the 6800Go can get hot, but Nvidia has a set thermal threshold, so as long as you stay below that (97 degrees celcius I believe) nothing is going to happen. This laptop should last you 4 to 5 years as long as you don't spill anything on it or drop it off the desk. The only part that I envision wearing out is the battery, but that's ok because you already tried to scam one from Dell.

I mean, how can one not remember? It's a classic! "Hey Dell, my battery only lasts 60 min, send me a new one. Oh, while you are at it, can I keep the old one too?"

Well, I had an Apple ibook bought back in May 2001. I used it almost everyday for 3 and a half years and towards the end, the thing started breaking down. The screen hinge started getting loose, the power connector also started getting loose and sometimes would not charge, the battery died but that is expected, the HD died and had to be replaced. Offcourse, all this is not really due to heat but more a result of general wear and tear!
I just hope that my new 9300 ends up being more sturdy than this!
