Thanks for hosting!
This thing freaks me out! Prolly because I don't know what the hell I'm doing when it comes to manual control of the hardware. I'll keep this tucked in a nice secure folder until I understand how to use this proper.
Man, you can really tweak the fans into launch mode, can't you?!
I decreased the fan speed to a level that suited me (dB wise) and the temp increased from 45°c to 49°c in no time, and it was still rising. I cranked it up again at a higher than normal speed and watched my CPU drop to 36°.
Just for an experiment, I briefly cranked the fan to full for a moment. After the 9860 physically lifted itself from the table and hovered mid air, I realized I didn't know what I was dealing with. Counseling sponsored by the local AFB finally convinced me that it wasn't a UFO (the key factor was that I was in control at all times, but I didn't know it!).
I'm sure the mods are cringing right now knowing that this tool is in the hands of noobs like me. So let me say this....
If you're new to this kind of thing, leave it alone!
I'm only in the 4th week of owning a 9860. I'm content to sit back and read the posts for now and learn (most of the time
But in closure I gotta say, be careful with this application. I was able to get radical temperature variations simply by not knowing all the parameters.
And now, after preaching to the choir . . . .FLAME ON!
