X700, X600, 9700? - Page 3

i'm guessing x700 and x600 on laptops are PCI-express only eh? same with the 6600go
i'm kind of a mild gamer that realli wants the hardware to run stuff well but seriously doesn't matter cuz i only play new games once in a while for a few months..
i'm fine with the 6600go but i'll love to have the 6800go..
seriously the 6600go is barely enough..

i recommend you look for a laptop with x700 minimal.. but i think it is only avaliable on the sonoma platforms?

i don't know how hot the AMD 64 runs.. but they are better served in deskstop replacement sized laptops..

if you are thinking about good portability/good battery life, you will most likely have to wait for the turion or go with the centrino..

Yep, everywhere on the net is saying the same thing: the Intel 915 motherboards with PCI-Express graphics are absolutely atrocious for high tech realtime music work (and likely for video work, too) due to a problem in the I/O "switch", causing high latencies and overly taxing CPU resources hugely. This is apparent in PCI-Express graphics based laptops especially those which have higher-end graphics cards (X700, 6800 etc.). It's a shambles.

When's the next Centrino technology after the Intel 915 chipset due to come in?

Then I suggest that you wait for the Acer Ferrari 4000 that should be soon available.
