How can i disable multiple computers from accessing the network?

Hey, i was just wondering how i could remotely disable a few of the computers on my network from accessing the network/internet. is this possible? I know that for windows, i can use a program called look@lan to find all the ip addresses, but i dont think they have a version for linux. so...basically i need:

a program to find ip addresses
a program to disable their internet.

and as a side question, how could i remotely turn off/logoff someones computer through a network?

I would really appreciate any help you could give me Thanks

nmap is the tool i use and unplugging there cat5 cable will surely do the job. Shutting down a system is easy if you have root access.

you could log onto the router and set up all ports going to your computer, then they cant even connect to the router without being redirected to your comp (meaning you can do alot to them)

you could dos em. send syn's to computerA spoofed with computerB's ip address. But this might have the side effect of losing your job.

I would not suggest a DoS attack, thats getting onto illegal stuff. What router are you using?

Everything you are describing counts as cracking(Not hacking, there is a difference and cracking is what will get you arrested)

If you are dealing with a school network expect to at the very least get kicked out, expelled, meaning dont plan on getting into many schools after that, and you will probably have charges pressed.

They are not joking about this, most schools will do the above without much hesitation.

Is it possible in linux, Yes. It is more than possible, and much more capable in linux than windows in this regards. The thing is you cant do something like this just for fun. If it was all your own personally owned equipment and your own personal network in your house or apartment that would be one thing, but you are dealing with a school network and their IT people are very possesive, and most of the time this also means government property. So really you will be cracking government networks, not a good idea even if you do know what you are doing. If you want to get back at your friends, do it in some way that wont come back to haunt you for the rest of your life.

Yeah, find a better way of getting back at them.

I would re-arrange their refrigerator magnets.

Now then tricking them into giving a root shell account on their comp or getting them to install and run VPN would be a good idea

You got lucky you said 'my network' in the post. If it was a school network, etc., like some people hinted, this thread would have been gone in no time. If its your own network, just block the person's MAC on your router (it's really quite amusing to flip a drop-all-packets-from-this-guy on and off while observing the person test their cables, reboot, boot different OSs, ask you if you're having trouble with your network access, etc). As for screwing with a network thats not your own, it is more than possible but is illegal and I will not allow such discussions.
