Good luck with the M70, wazzup.

Thanks in advance..

check out my thread on the screen.... had a lot of light leakage... had it replaced... with the exact same screen... still light leakage, although a little better.... BUT it is still a great screen - buy it --- you'll love it
UT2004 at max settings - max fun

Why bored? i need for this wallpaper just about 10min... and when you are happy because you will soon get a new notebook it's a good thing to do a wallpaper or to read in a forum like this ;-)

Today i bougth a logitech MX900 Bluetooth Mouse... its great and it works well with the internal bluetooth hub..

... i souldn't have bougth a new notebook because now am allways playing HL2 or FarCry and and and ;-)

how fast do you run the nVidia Quadro 1400? at oriinal speed? at optimal detected speed?

I have installed the Battlefield 2 Demo and it runs very well!
I play on the highest settings and it's still good playable..
and this without overclocking the GPU or RAM!
My Specs are in the sugnature:

AHHHHHHH, i see it now.

DO you think the Dell PrecisionTM M70 Mobile Workstation would be a better choice then the i9300?

Depends on what you need. The M70 doesn't have firewire... BUT the M70 is smaller... which could be a pro or a con. So it really just depends.

Also, there are some a few tweaks in a Quadro that aren't in the consumer vid line... but if you needed that, then the 9300 wouldn't be an option anyway.

You'll get better stock performance from the 9300... the Quadro isn't clocked as high by default.

The M70 is one solidly built machine... it's very professional looking.... but the 9300 is no slouch either.. just that the 9300 is part of the Inspiron line... may not command as much "respect".. if that matters.

To me the biggest problem with the 9300 is its size. If you don't care about that, then the 9300 is probably the better choice (unless you need the Quadro). Biggest problems with the M70 is the Quadro (if you're a gamer... but then I'd go for the XPS2 anyhow) and the lack of firewire.

Can you tell us how much battery time you get with 9cell?
I'm choosing between Latitude D810 and Precision M70, but I heard D810 has amazing battery life. I wonder what M70 is like with the battery time.
I get about 2.5 hours. Which isn't bad considering. Might get more depending on what you are doing (or how slow you want the CPU to go).

The Graphiccard in the M70 is great... i play BF2 with all on high in 1680*1050*32 with 4xAA and its still smooth and great!! ;-) (and this is without overclocking the graphic card....!!)

the M70 is still a "normal" notebook.. ok it's a littlebit thick but it looks very powerfull and th best thing is... every day it looks better.. first i thougth it looks to big and so gray... but now i just love the design ;-)

the 9300 is a real desktop replacement notebook.. but if you just move your laptop ones at week you can buy the 9300.. the 17" screen is usefull... but for my too big..

so it's your desicion.. for my it was also the price.. i could get the Precision M70 cheper than the 9300 with the same options.. but it's still expensive.. (i live in switzerland so i can't use coupons.. )

the most of the new laptops are as fast as each other.. all have a 2ghz sonoma and 1gb ram and and and... you just buy the better graphiccard.. so is it worth to drag 1kg more for a GPU with is only about 30% faster?

9300--faster but bigger
M70--slower and smaller (But still quite fast.)

M70 does not have firewire or a SD slot. BUT it's compatible with the entire "D" line of addons: port replicator, docking station, USB powered external optical drive etc.

The M70 is not slower at all.. it's just tha GFXcard which is a bit slower... the rest ist exactly as fast as the 9300 or the Gen2.
The QFX card is not slower than the equivalent GFX card, it's just clocked slightly lower for stability.
Remember, too, that the QFX card can be OC'd pretty well if you really want to. The point of underclocking a bit is to ensure extremely high quality when working with complex CAD/OpenGL type models. My M70 has handled everything I've thrown at it (HL2, Doom 3, etc...) with ease, and I haven't even updated the drivers, let alone overclocked it.

The Element - I definitely suggest the latest M70 Dell WHQL driver 72.03 for a nice boost in general performance, available here -
http://ftp.us.dell.com/video/N41GDA03.EXE

Release notes from Dell here -
Fixes and Enhancements
1. General driver update; includes increased graphics peformance.
2. Fixes stutter with DVD playback

Out of curiosity, what brand of 100GB 7200RPM do you have?

The "precision" all over the back of the lappy looks lame :\
