LOOK!! Here is a Program to adjust fan speed for d900 - Page 3

Yeh, I know its still running cause you do see it in the task manager. I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong to cause it to lose its settings every other time that I restart my computer. I continually have to input my fan speeds and temp trips

It automatically resets the setting every time it exits. So you gotta kill it from task manager - process.

My settings are saved until I remove power from the computer. The settings are stored somewhere in the keyboard flash and should only be lost when power is removed.

Hey everyone, just got my alienware about 2 weeks ago and have been using the get thermal utility, I have a quick question does anyones VGA fans automatically adjust? If not what do you se them at by default, I swear mines always at 30%.

Idle I run R:52c, and L:58c

Also is there anyway to get the origianl settings back, I mean such as what Alienware meant for them to be? I cannot find any settings in the bios or anything for them. Im kind of nervous about using this get thermal utility now, thats why.

Afaik, when the laptop is void of all AC and shutdown, things revert back to normal, even with that proggie installed. You could always just run your respawn CD.

btw those are what my gpu temps seem to stick right around without using gethermal and that's after playing doom3 etc.

the vga fan starts going up like on 60-64, then on 70, and so on....your temps are great

Critical 77
Throttle 72
ACO Trip 65 F1 100 F2 100
AC1 Trip 57 F1 30 F2 35
AC2 Trip 48 F1 15 F2 15
Fan off 40

So those settings are good for my Area-51m 7700? And when i put in the settings in the D900T prog, i can X it out and it will keep the settings until i reboot?

Thx

I wouldn't mess with that. I'd just update the bios to 1.00.05b and ipdate the keyboard bios with the fan control bios and use that instead. You can find those in a thread here but you'll have to look for it. just search for fan control bios or something like that.

wow... this thread is pretty old... some necromancers must be at work :-)

p.s. the utility works just fine for me - my cpu stays at 47/50

Same here - the utility and the settings ZeeRonan quotes work well for me. Also the settings are retained as long as the computer is plugged into the wall power outlet - even if the computer is shut down or re-booted.

I had the same problem. The only way out is to kill the app and re-run it.
