Just got an email from Adam, my laptop shipped out this evening. w00t! one more step down. Now we'll see how long ground takes from MA to Austin, TX.

It'd be from CA to TX... The notebooks ship from Sager in California :-)

Lol, toys rule :-)

Yeah, very disappointing to find out that my computer was coming from California when I'm just across the border from Adam in New York. Oh well, UPS says delivery will finally get here today.

Darn, I thought I would avoid the slow boat out of CA. Well, it probably saves tons for Adam to dropship from CA than ship it to MA and then here. ETA is Wed, Jan 29th.

Well, hmm... The last activity on UPS shows:
Jan 24, 2003 3:50 A.M. VERNON, CA, US DEPARTURE SCAN

Does it really take 4+ days to get from Vernon, CA to where ever it's going? I'm in Austin, TX btw. I'm just wondering if they're going to be able to get it here by tomorrow if it's still enroute from CA.

The last thing is shows is departure from CA?

My tracking show departure from CA, arrival is Des Moines IA (I'm in NE). Arrival in Omaha, Arrival is Lincoln, and then "Out for Delivery" (I live about 30 minutes from Lincoln) so it should be here today. If the last thing they show is departure from CA there might be a problem.....

I know, just about the last thing you want to hear when eagerly awaiting your new laptop!

Oh yeah, you might note that the "last" thing that happened is first on their list of activity......(just in case)

Well, at least it says that for Jan 24th... are you sure you're looking at the detailed report?

Yours is shipping by ground right?
Then I don't think you need to worry, the last ones you'll see will be

1:06 A.M. Austin TX, US ARRIVAL SCAN

Or whatever the closed UPS distributing facility is if you don't have one in Austin.

Mine went by air and here's it's list of activity:
Jan 28, 2003 5:00 A.M. LINCOLN, NE, US OUT FOR DELIVERY
1:06 A.M. LINCOLN, NE, US ARRIVAL SCAN
12:06 A.M. OMAHA, NE, US DEPARTURE SCAN
Jan 27, 2003 6:12 P.M. OMAHA, NE, US ARRIVAL SCAN
3:26 P.M. DES MOINES, IA, US DEPARTURE SCAN
Jan 26, 2003 10:42 A.M. DES MOINES, IA, US ARRIVAL SCAN
Jan 25, 2003 4:10 A.M. ONTARIO, CA, US DEPARTURE SCAN

8:17 P.M. US BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED
7:18 P.M. BALDWIN PARK, CA, US ORIGIN SCAN

Wow, sorry about the formatting on that!

Yeah, considering today is the 28th, lol, I'm assuming they just haven't updated the progress on it... You may want to call and ask, though... cuz it usually updates when it gets scanned in, and if it hasn't been scanned in at any place then it may be lost... That would royally suck but if I were you I'd call and make sure that it isn't...

OK, just got off the phone with UPS. They said because it's ground, it's just sitting on the truck and will not get scanned along the way. Apparently, it's on a route straight from CA to TX. Well, bottom line, I feel better for now.

woo hoo! at 4:30 this afternoon, it arrived in San Antonio, TX, and left for Austin at 9:30 tonight. I'm gonna get my lappy tomorrow! Let's just hope everything's A-OK. (hope i didn't just jinx it )

Best of luck! Let us know how it goes! Glad to see that UPS answered your question ok...

From my own experience a week ago, I can tell ya that the two most heart stopping moments when your 5660 arrives will be:

1) Whether the unit boots up;

- this is important, but frankly it isn't nearly as nerve wrecking as...

2) Whether you have dead or bad pixels.

- What's the difference? For (1), you can probably get a new one fairly. For the second, if you have a single bad, then it's either the 30 day money back, or you're going to have to live with it (Painful).

Mine was OK on both counts, and the bad pixel that was starting to show up a few days ago on my 5660 seems to be intermittent - at one stage, I could even see the pixel flashing a bit, but it seems OK again, for at least the time being.

Either way it goes, hope it all turns out well for ya!

Woo hoo! I just received it my 5660. They put their sweat and blood into bringing it to me, as there's a bloody thumbprint on the box and on the bottom of the laptop

No worries, I've done that before building computers - a little alcohol will take that right off.

Just booted the laptop, and everything looks A-OK. 2.4Ghz, 256MB.

It's in memtest86 right now, booted off a GQ brand CDR, so that's good news for the combo drive. Once it passes the memory test, I'll be installing an additional 256 Module I got from Crucial and retest. So far so good!

OK Adam, I just wanted to let you know I am 100% satisfied now. It took long enough for the ground delivery (by my own request), and I think the anticipation made it that much more special to open the box. I've got WinXP installed, and it's just been a blast to work with so far. FYI, I've already responded to resellerratings.com. I don't think I helped any, though... you're already a 10

Adam -- you rock!
