Anyone know what are the names of the connectors on the avermedia TV tuner card that comes with the 9860? I know one converts the rca to coaxil cable.

There is also another one that connects the rca to a what?
and what is it used for?

Can anyone help me one this, i think it might be a female n connector?

Can you be a bit more specific by describing the location and/or color of the jacks. Also, the Manual (8790, in my case) has a picture describing the Tuner card connections.

The "bullet plug" is an adapter that changed the RF (Cable TV) cable to the RCA-type input to the tuner - I.e., Antenna. The small "Mic/headphone" plug are for audio input and the circle plug with a number of smaller internal holes is for S-Video input. If you have one of the Red/Green/Blue + a couple of other connections type of adapter, this is not for the TV Tuner; but rather, for connecting the Output Video to a COmposit TV - Like HDTV.

Hope that this helps.

When looking at the rear of the laptop - Are you talking about the rightmost two connectors? If so the one on the left (Yellow core color) is the RF-Input (CATV Input) and the one on the right is the S-Video Input. Refer to page 1-9 of the user manual.

The two converters that come with the card convert to the 2 different cable connections. I forgot the names of them, but they are the US cable connection and the European cable conection. I know one of them is called PAL, the other is like NTCS or something like that.

Actually, PAL and NTSC are the way it is broadcasted (signal, transmission, something like that). PAL can not be received on a NTSC TV and the NTSC can not be received on PAL. For those of us living abroad, we have to have multi-system equipment.

That aside, what G-Omaha was mentioning above is true. The one connector is a RF (coaxial) to RCA adaptor. This is for the NTSC. The other adaptor is also a coaxial connector, but it is more commonly referred to as an aerial adaptor here in Europe. This adaptor shows you how normal coaxial looks in Europe. They don't have the same type as what is used in the US.

One more note. It is also common to find the RCA adaptor called a phono adaptor. I am not an audio-phile, so I can not tell you if there is a reason for this, but this is from my experience and also from other posts within the forum.

Hope this helps.

It is because the plug "looks" like the same one that was and is still used for Left/Right (what ever) audio channel input and outputs for audio gear. The Yellow Video plug; however, has a slightly larger center core for the plug - it will fit into an audio port; however, must be forced and could ruin the plug when proper connectors are later used. This same type of plug is also used internally within TV sets and CRT type displays and is not necessarilly limted to video type connections.
