no BT cannot be used to stream even compressed audio, 1Mbit is 70KB/s usable (Kilo Byte not kilo bit) i cannot stream audio from my desktop to my pda without the song skipping, i guess its a couple bytes lower than what it needs to be to stream properly, for low quality audio like voice BT is fine

I currently use a Bluetooth mouse, Bluetooth cellphone, Bluetooth printer, and recently ordered some Bluetooth stereo headphones. I can use all these devices at the same time and without any additional adapters or significant power consumption.
thats true, bluetooth is supposed to make your peripherals all wireless and dongleless, bt transcivers can talk to 7 diffrent devices usually so you can be connected to the a dialup line via BT/Cell have GPS running and your bluetooth mouse working all at the same time

Yes, Bluetooth can stream audio under the v1.2 A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). How well things work depends on the profile(s) implemented in the product. That is the real weakness of Bluetooth - different functions require different profiles and manufacturers don't always implement the best or most useful ones. Check out these Bluetooth stereo headphones I recently ordered at http://www.sonorix.com/eng/product/product_obh0110.php. Toshiba, HP, and Bluetake also make Bluetooth stereo headphones. All the reviews I've read on them claim the sound quality is indistinguishable from the average wired headphones. I'll post a review once I receive mine.

and I think the bandwidth is 1 Mbps, which is more than enough for streaming audio
my current bt config allows for more devices, but the bt i had like 2 years back was supporting just 1 connection at a time. I dunno how but everytime i tried to connect the headset when the phone was connected thru bt it used to say that the connection is already in use!!

After reading this thread I really want to have BT in my notebook. However, the one I like right now (LG LM70) doesn't have a built in BT...

Do you guys think that I could put an integrated BT card in that LG? I don't like the USB BT sticking out of my comp...

By the way, a link for my future "LG LM70" is here (the site is pretty slow so please be patient ):

yeah its definately something with your pda man...if a song is at 128kbps and the transfer rate is 1Mbps there is plenty of bandwidth...maybe your pda is too slow to decode it on the fly while also recieving it via bluetooth...

128 kilobytes per second is equal to 1024 kilobits or 1 megabit per second.

My Bluetooth is internal, and I didn’t want a USB receiver sticking out of my laptop, I just about broke my USB port on my old lappy because of that. For me, that’s the main reason to use a Bluetooth mouse. As far as range, I have not had a problem with any of my wireless mice, although I have heard complaints of connection problems with some brands.

I use a bluetooth dongle on my desktop to transfer pictures from my Motorola V600. I also use a bluetooth headset with my phone. I didn't get bluetooth with my laptop. I thought about getting a second dongle, but I figure I'll just take the one from my laptop if I need bluetooth while on a trip (doubtful).

I ordered these a while back, they have finally arrived and I will post a review shortly.

Make sure your USB dongle supports A2DP, my Imate PDA2k does. I'm just looking for a good compact flash card that supports BT 1.2 and A2DP.

Nice car ABF, fast!!

I connected my v551 to our x5 so I can talk through the speakrs of the car. When I'm in the car i never have to touch my phone. I can make and receive calls through the headunit. It's really a great feature of the car.

no it wont, what if you have a HTPC with a 100" projection screen? you gonna use an RF mouse to control that? bluetooth works from a city block away so its guarenteed to work from 10ft away without any interference. RF is highly suspectable to external interference, the sole reason why i sold my microsoft laptop mouse for a logitech bluetooth mx900 mouse
post #37 of 37
I use, love, and recomend the logitech Mx900 mouse. Range I've tested is 15 feet, worked perfectly. That is way farther than I will ever use. Lack of a dongle is the main reason I went this route, and I couldnt be happier.
