A Photo Guide for Pin Modding 9300/XPS and Applying AS5 to GPU - Page 51

You can't "pin mod" a 533Mhz CPU because the System Bus runs at that speed. The whole trick here is your sticking a CPU that normally on a 400Mhz bus, instead on a 533Mhz bus. Since everything is based on clock speed off the system bus, do the math.

The Bus speed on the laptop is not adjustable. (unlike a custom desktop motherboard....My Abit MB in my gaming desktop allows me in the Bios to control the individual speeds and voltages of every device and bus with a few clicks...)

So since you have a fixed 533Mhz speed, the trick is putting in slower bus speed CPUs and now your spinning them faster.....

Man I guess I'll have to get the 400Mhz bus and pin mod it. You can really REALLY make the 1.6Ghz processer a 2. something Ghz processer? That is what I call getting your moneys worth. Thxs for the infor guys.

Dude, my desktop is running a 2yr old XP1700 (1.47Ghz) $47 CPU that I spin at 2.2Ghz.....a 700Mhz Overclock (makes it a XP3000+)

For a chip I paid $47 2 years ago. It runs all my games, rips all my music and video, and all the wifey crap too. Bang for buck if you know what your doing and leep it cool! (I hand lap my coolers, and run 10 large slow spinning and quiet fans)

BTW, just noticed I had the 1000th post above! Whohoo!

Well, I thought that about one of their articles, too, until I realized that the author is a member of this forum ("Shadowmage").

Sweet I applied the as5 last night to the cpu and gpu...no pinmod yet. They only difference is i used emery cloth to smooth the heat sinks out. They ended up shinning pretty good before i replaced them.

CPU: Max Speed 1.86: Idle 25-26C Load: 39C
Low Speed 0.8: Idle 24-25C Load: 32C

I am undervolted to 0.7V and 1.020 V...I can go lower but i feel most comfortable here.
And this is an old version of I9KFANGUI so the temps are correct i suppose. NHC reads the same temps.

Crapola, seems my AS5 application to the GPU wasn't as good as I hoped.
After static runs that went up to 88c, an hours worth of playing Far Cry now get's up to 99c now (with the end up, flat on the table it get's to a blistering 102!).

Guess I'll be cutting me a shim tomorrow...
