Could you do this to a Pentium M 755 (2 Ghz, 400Mhz Bus) for a 2.66 Ghz processor?

Also is there any mod at all that you can overclock your 533Mhz Bus processor? Because I have a Pentium M 760 (2 Ghz, 533 Bus).

PS- I did take the time to read the entire thread, and it has obviously been stated this pin-mod will not work for a 533 Mhz bus system.

the 2 -> 2.6 will probably not work because the computer will not be able to get enough power to keep it stable (from what I understand). 1.8 mods are also risky, but less so. You will require to do a volt mod as well as the pin mod to get the proper voltage to the 1.8. I have a stable 1.7->2.26, and that is what I would recommend.

the same question has been asked. do overclock from 533fsb, youd need to have an adjustable pll chip to manipulate the fsbs, but no laptop really has a chip that we can manipulate easily.

well i applied as5 to my cpu and gpu tonight. unfortunately i don't see a dramatic change in idle temps for either.

currently it's 34 and 56 C for cpu and gpu respectively with the bios controlling both fans. fan speeds are "slow" spinning @ 2615 and 2644 rpm respectively. did you guys notice instant temp changes? or did it take roughly the 200 hours of break-in time to see a noticeable drop in temps?

i did notice during my 20 minute test on CSS that the gpu temp did not exceed 80C which it used to before as5 and the cpu fan never kicked into "high" gear.

please let me know if this is all normal and expected. thank you. this thread deserves major props.

From what most desktop overclockers say, AS5 affects load temperatures much more than idle temperatures...and that too, after the break in perios (repeated on/off & heat/cool cycles).

Artic Silver 5 takes a few days to settle. Are you sure you've applied it properly? (as per instructions on their website) - if you put to much on it can cause a thermal barrier. You only need the thinnest of applications.

I used it on my CPU and GPU and in a 20 degree room my CPU idle is around 35 and GPU 46. My CPU (on prime torture) never exceeds 60 degrees and GPU (running RTHDRIBL) doesn't exceed 65.

i followed the instructions as best i could. i don't think i applied to much... just enuf to cover the entire surface of the dies.

AS5 works best when tolerances are tight; if there's the slightest gap, the factory Dell installed Shin-Etsu thermal pad works best.

i tightened the screws as much as i could.

i've got a fangui question. what is the correct combination of options to have fangui set the gpu fan to be on "high" all the time yet allow the bios to control the cpu fan so that this happens everytime windows is started? giving fangui control of 1 fan while leaving the other to the bios is easy, but everytime i reboot, the bios regains control of both fans.

Just out of curiosity, are y'all pinmodding the 1.7 Banias or 1.7 Dothan? Buddy of mine has an 8600 with a 1.7 Banias, wondering if it can be pinmodded...

dont think it will work because the banias only has 1 mb cache

A 2.13GHz Banias would wipe the floor with a 1.6GHz Dothan. The extra MB of cache and architectural tweaks provide about a 5% per clock boost. Dothan's biggest advantage is the 90nm process which makes it use less power and clock higher easier.

Even a 512KB Celeron-M is a fantastic CPU. If it had Speedstep it would be extra wonderful .

Banias would probably never hit 2.13 in a notebook though anyway. In a desktop you probably could get one there.

I just ordered a 9300 with a 1.6ghz....I already have a 700m which has a 1.6ghz 725 in it....can I switch the processors around giving the 700m the 533fsb from the 9300 and give the 9300 the 400fsb from the 700m? How will the 700m recoginize the 533fsb processor?
