Hi guys,

I am getting 1.7Ghz 735 M from the year 2003 for my new 9300.

Should I be worried because of the year?

People are saying that newer are better..well, newer are better..

well 2.26 is not that high a probability to begin with although that has improved with more recent ones so i would worry a bit.

but there's still a chance you'd be fine which would be good news for you.

but i'd say you should hopefully be able to boot it at 2.26 even if unstable and get rmclock and bring down the max multi to make it 2.13 or 2.0 until it's stable.

good luck

Thanks ziddey.

I already have some Nanotherm PCM + that I've used on a couple of desktops. I've found it worked pretty well on them and it has gotten some decent reviews online. Would you think it would be ok to use it on my 9300 when I pin mod? I'd be getting a 1.7 and modding it to 2.26 GHZ.

Thanks

That's not the year that THAT chip was made. It's just the year when they start making the first Pentium-M, I believe. You'll have to look at the chip codes to decifer the month/year that your chip was manufactured.

Black Seal: You should be fine.

Maine: The main thing to check is the cache size. They were made with 512KB, 1MB and 2MB. The lower cache ones sell for CHEAP. Be sure you are getting 2MB.

Thanks WhyOhWhy.

Of course I got 2MB. I am educated enough. It was $119 shipped, pull from IBM according to the seller.

I'm in the process of buying a 1.7 P-M (SL7EP), hoping to get 2.26GHz for my lappy . I'll check back in a week or so when I get it.

Can anybody tell me what this is for?
Why change it? I though 533 is better than 400

Don't we all love posts like this?

Yes, 533 is better than 400. By putting in 400FSB chip and installing a small clip for pinmod we make chipset run 400 chip as 533 fsb, and because multipliers are higher for 400 chips overall speed gives us $500 CPU's for around $100, give or take.

Did I answer your question correctly?

maybe I done it wrong or used a wrong piece of wire...

I finally was able to do it.
I tried a second time and then my laptop wouldn't boot up. I reopened up everything and cut a shorter cable... then it worked great.

from 1.5 to 2ghz @ 533 fsb and the CPU temp run around 25degree (with compound).

thanks for all the info guys

Does anybody have the servie manual in .pdf format or a home made html package.
I'd like to have that so I don't have to be on-line all the time.
