it's not noticable. 2.13 is pretty safe for sure at this point. you wouldnt notice it : )

Yep. Still nice to brag about 2.26

Yes but the 725 is almost but 100% guaranteed to work while the 735 isn’t I don’t consider that chance worth taking just for bragging rights. That’s just me though.

725 is not almost but 100% guaranteed to work, unless you break something while disassembling your lappy. I did 725 pinmod with my now gone 6000D and then undervolted it to below 1v at max performance.

Still, I am very very happy with my 9300 at 2.26.

I'm entirely confused so pardon my ignorant post:

Has anyone actually confirmed the that this mod alters the TRUE frequency of the CPU rather than simply fooling the BIOS and displaying a template speed? (i.e. The BIOS stating your CPU is running 2.26 @ 533 when in reality its still churning 1.73 behind your back?)

Thanks!

Bwa-ha-ha...Actually it is a great idea gor a new line of software apps, display higher speed and cheat.

Yes, it alters the true frequency of the CPU, I can confirm it with the video encoding results before and after the pinmod.

Yah, it does. The speed increase is ridiculous in CPU limited tasks. Beyond seeing pi calculations going from 38s with my 2.0 to 35s at 2.27GHz, FPS in 50+ player CS:S servers were a good 5-10FPS higher on average. It definitely makes a difference.

Hey Mr.K6, have you found a way yet to pin mode P-M 760, i mean FSB 533?

woo! another success. AND under volting! SL7EP stepping

Hey all, I just put a pin-modded 735 into my I9300 which replaced the 2ghz 760 I had in there--I bought one of the $110 BIN ones off ebay & put it in w/o an AS5 (I will, but it runs in the mid-40s temp. wise with the regular heat thingy that shipped with it.)
anyway--it appears to undervolt a little bit too--I'm running at 1.292 really stably.
Yay 2.262ghz for $100! anybody wanna buy a lovely 760? :-)

Congratulations and welcome to the club.

I'll buy your 760 - $120 shipped, so you'll come out even.

Put some AS5, you'll drop temps by at least 3 to 5 degrees.

Nah, doesnt seem like it's going to fly. I thought there might be a way to jimmy the debug clock pins (IPT_CLK) but it doesnt seem like it's going to fly. Ah well, at least we have our battery life

heehee, actually, (I didn't mean that as a real FS offer--just exciting to get 10% speed increase at about a third of the cost ;-) woo!) it's tempting to try to get one of those P-M to P4 converters & put it in a desktop. supposedly they overclock quite nicely too.

yeah, AS5 is great stuff.

Actually, I only know about P-M to P4 Asus CT-479 adapter. It is supported by about 3 or 4 Asus mb's. If you know of any other adapters, please let me know.

You don't want MSI or whatever (older stuff with P-M support built-in).

Yes, they are great on desktop. I recently built one in HTPC 100 nMedia case with laptop DVD and laptop HDD.

But let's not hijack this excellent thread.

Welcome to the club.

Im here to report my 1.7 400mhz a success, well, sort of..

It runs everything fine, played FEAR for 3 hours w/out any problems,
but gives error in prime95 in less than 30 seconds, Im not going to bother with volt mod, so Im still happy and will stick with the 2.13 prime stable result, even undervolted@1.29v
post #475 of 1473
Anybody know where I can buy a dothan1.6 other then Ebay Im thinking of doing the pin mod for a buddy who has a 9300 and neither of us do the ebay deal

Thanks

So you already have the 2.13 Pentium-M 533? I wouldn't bother to upgrade that to 2.26 pinmod, but that's just me.

Anyways, When I first did my pinmod, prime95 would crash in less then 30 seconds consistantly. What I found was some problems in the Centrino Central software. I forgot exactly what it was, I think it was auto throttling or something. When I disable that it was rock stable. I've since stopped using the software after I reimage my HD.

Here's one: http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=MPM-725BX&c=pw

But it's kind of pricey. I would just try ebay. It's really not that bad. I've never done ebay before I got my 1.6 from there. Just open a PayPal account and put $120 or so into the PayPal acount from your credit card. Then go to ebay and shop and pay via PayPal.

No I had 1.6, i meant my 1.7-400mhz won't run prime stable at full 2.26, so i had to drop max multiplyer to 16, so it stays at 2.13 and is prime stable.. I was using CPU rightmark to controll the speedstep but I think it's just my cpu isn't capable at running 2.26 at stock voltage.

Hmm..how is it that you're able to change the FSB with pinmodding?
i thought the whole point of pin-mod is to change native 400mhz FSB cpu to 533mhz??

if you were asking if i actually changed my motherboard's 533mhz FSB, then NO. I simply dropped multiplier from 17 to 16.
