i have a 9300 and it had a 1.7 533 pentium m cpu, i red the complete thread, and then went out and bought a 1.6 400 pentium m cup, without asking if i could pm my 533, you need to read before posting! i hate lazy people!
Adrenolin, ill get you out of the red when i get finshed with pay back rep, you will be full green. good points and i feel your frustration!

lol thanks ! Honestly I dont care so much about the rep points but I guess some people do. I actually had someone give me like 300 neg points for This ( Software -- Must Haves) posting way back on 7/11/05 . Would be nice to be green again though. I could have joined the Rep Points thread and built them up but I tend to not even notice the red that much. Love that there is no way of knowing who gave you the pos/neg points though. Seems kinda lame that it hides that info.

Oh wow so sorry. Let me have no life like you and read what is 46 pages.

I actually thought the older 9300's came with 400mhz fsb.

Honestly people do not read at all.

Alright guys, this may have been answered before but I can't see myself sitting here for hours reading 46 pages worth of posts.

I under stand the whole pin mod deal and what it accomplishes. What I don't understand is exactly what processors this can be done with.

Are all P-M 400fsb CPUS the exact same, just different clock speeds? So I can order say a 1.7 ghz 400fsb P-M, and do this pin mod and actually overclock it faster than the 2.13 the 1.6 ghz does? Is the 1.5 and 1.6 Ghz CPUs the only processors this is capable with?
the concept behind it is that the max multiplier is locked. for example, a 1.5ghz 400fsb cpu (715) would have to be 1500/100=15x max multiplier. so when you do the mod, it makes it instead run at 533fsb. so maintaining the same max multiplier, now it becomes 133x15=2000mhz, or 2ghz or 760 speed.

technically, this can be done to any 400fsb cpu. however, you have to understand that the higher the starting cpu speed, the higher the max multiplier, and so also the bigger an overclock youre going to see (100 to 133 is 33%). so for example, 1.5->2.0, 1.6->2.13, 1.7->2.26, 1.8->2.4 etc.

the higher starting speeds will have to be able to endure bigger overclocks, and so that is a bit more improbable. also, intel hasnt even released a 2.4ghz dothan, and there arent plans to. it seems like it's pretty much maxed around 2.26.

so you could technically pinmod a 1.8 400fsb, but it probably wont run stable

you must be right but thats just silly, i read the whole thread, took 10 min.
for this mod, i would not even think of doing it unless i red all the pages, but whatever. fry your new laptop because its too hard to read, sheesh

I'm about to go to work..so I'm not going to read through this all.

Anyone have problems pin modding a 1.7ghz proc? Any heat issues - It would be 2261mhz after the mod right?

when you get back from work, just read the thread, 90% is just people asking the same questions. if you are going to be lazy, dont do the mod

what? I have done this mod and you are too lazy to even read the first page and I should stop? ok, at least I contribute my experiences on pin moding 2 computers, with pictures. you must be really smart
I used to just answer everyone's questions here, but they are always the same questions, I realized that after reading just the first few pages, all the questions I had at first were answered, just answering doesn't help people like you prepare for life. you need to research, just like everything worthwhile in life, if you take the easy way all the time you wind up a worthless person

heheh got a 1.7 from eBay, pin modded with a piece of copper wire from a 12 guage peiece of speaker wire. Turned it on, and am running amazingly stable and insanely fast at 2.26GHZ1! No volt mods or anything weird like that. HECK YES!! Merry Christmas!
