Inspiron 8600 deal - Page 2

Why is it that the computers are so much more expensive in the small business or large business section? Are they using better parts or just ripping off unsuspecting buyers with lots of money?

Well i would say go with the Dell but tjust take out the RAM. get 256 and get 1gb from other place. i dont c why is this so hard for ur Uni or who ever is getting u this laptop. ram come with a life time warranty. and NO RAM DOES Void ur warraty. so u dont have to worry about it. so far dell is the only Company that makes u feel like u bought a computer that is urs to do whata every u want with it. there are some companies that dont even want u to Format the HDD and install what ever os u want on it. but u should chill with the ram. i think this is what is killing u.

Its not that the computers are more expensive, its the different notebook lines that are only available in the small and large business. For example, an i8600 will cost you about the same in all three sections, give or take some depending on who's offering what discounts, but an i8600 will cost less than a D800 or an M60, mostly because of the metal chassis. Also, the M60 costs more than D800 because of the CAD-baised video card.

In short, the various sectors handle customers with different requirements. If you are an IT manager for a larger company, you don't care whether your users get the latest video card, since reliability is more important. Further, Inspirons don't have hardware and software support for network management; just look at OpenManage Client Instrumentation. Finally, for bigger companies the web prices are just starting points for negotiations, so that an IT manager may get a bonus from his boss after bringing the initial price down.
