what i mean is: can i just remove the optical drive and lug it to school without it? it's just extra weight i don't need. i.e. does it come with something like a little plastic cover i can click into the drive bay so i don't just have an open hole? or do i need to get out the duct tape? 
my old gateway had such a piece of plastic and i loved not having to lug the dvd drive around all the time; but i've been out of the laptop loop for a long time.
