I have read on forums that there are alot of people returning the 9300 because of the screen. Is this true?
Well, alot of people on THIS FORUM are but in comparison to all the 9300 buyers, its a reletively small percentage.

this forum creates hysteria.

guaranteed that the majority of people who got their 9300s, if they never heard of sparkles they wouldn't have been in such a jam to replace it.

Agreed.

I have purchased two 9300s. Both have been great and I am pleased with the LCDs.

I could not be happier with my 9300

I'm keeping mine. It's got a Samsung WXGA with a little light leakage at the bottom, but I love it.

I just ordered a 9300 with the WXGA screen - how do you like it? Seems that not many people get that LCD.

No, this is NOT hysteria created in this forum..... Many 9300 and XPS owners are not Happy with thier Screens and are either requesting a replacement screen (good luck) or are just returning thier Lappy's.
So as long as everybody is happy !!!!! There is another solution...

you can't tell me that this forum doesn't cause individuals who are otherwise happy with their monitor to start thinking "ohhh yea, it DOES sparkle this is unacceptable!" and return it when before they read all about it on here they were satisfied.

This is my first laptop. I've never even seen a top of the line sony screen so I probably just don't know enough to know what I'm missing. Then all of the threads here about about sparkles and exchanges scared me enough to go with the WXGA instead of the trulife. It looks better than the 17" flat panel on my desktop rig. So far the only games I've loaded are HL2, Everquest2, and Doom3. They all look amazing to me.....I'm very happy with it so far.

I love my screen. I got the WXGA LG screen. I play DVD's, gaming, and plan on doing some photo and video editing. No problems so far other than a small bit of light leakage from the bottom, but that is tolerable(for me anyways). Congratulations on you purchase and enjoy your new Lappy...dude...it's a DELL!

I don't know what the sparkle is, but I do know that my screen gives me a headache and causes eye strain, does that count?

I've found it helps if I wear sunglasses, but then after a few hours immediately after I take em off I notice two red marks on the bridge of my nose!

I can't win! this 9300 is goin back!

(j/k I love my 9300. It has a LG wuxga screen. I work in the computer retail sales industry, and while not the best screen there is, it's not the worst. I would say from a quality perspective, keeping all the glossy screens in mind, it's about average. but from the standpoint of resolution it's amazing. I'll take the extra resolution, thank you )

I just cancelled my Gen 2. I was woriied about the screens and the battery life. I'm going to do a bit more research.
^^You could have kept it for under21 days to test it out then returned it if not satisfied with a full refund. No questions asked.
bah! you should have just ordered it and made the decision yourself rather than what everyone is being picky about. I read about sparkles before I ordered my 9300 but ordered anyway to see it for myself. And you know what? I'm fine with the screen! It's just some people are picky more then others. It's not a bad things it's just what YOU want.

Bomberaia, why don't you visit a Dell Direct Store and check out the XPS2 screens. Since you're in South Florida there should be a Dell Direct Store near you. There are 13 stores in Florida.

IMO anyone who returns their 9300 or XPS2 or complains about the display is just TOO ANAL. I love the screen I have no complaint's except that with the widescreen text on some websites is very small. It's beautiful you will think the same when you recieve yours.

Case in point of a person who never even saw his screen and the forum made him cancel his order to to this forum induced hysteria on the screens.

I ordered the 9300 despite all of the complaints about the LCD...I think it's fine...I have the Samsung LCD and it's great. The native resolution makes text awfully small though, and if you adjust it to any other resolution setting it looks like crap--defeating the purpose of the true life.

There are some awfully high expectations on this forum--to these folks I suggest trying an Apple. You haven't seen high expectations yet if you haven't used PowerBook with OSX... While apple doesn't have the HD lcd panels (yet)... the PowerBook easily crushes this 9300 in terms of aesthetics and form, on top of having a far and away superior OS. I have both...there is no comparison.

In a perfect world I'd only use Mac, but there is a lot of money to be made off of both platforms, and it pays to know both.
