The FAN you are hearing might be the GPU not the CPU.

ASUS never really says what they fix in their BIOS updates...
I think they did it just to keep us obsessive types guessing.

only thing i noticed after upgrading to 0207g was that the buzzing sound when running on batteries was gone.

i think their link to the us/international/europe link is dead
and their china link is slow to dead
i had to get it off of thier chinia link, i used flashget and i eventually got it, took about 20min

I found another fix of the 0207 BIOS. Before, when there were 2 videos going at once, they would both stutter and lag. Now, it's smooth as can be. Yay!

i'm running the newest bios now.. booting up and shutting down seems a tad faster.. wireless seems to drop less?
gaming seems a little smoother..
hmm.. this could be ALL an illusion..

Sweet, I'm going to flash to it later tonight.

Guys, is there a way to flash the BIOS without using winflash? The problem is that the hard drive is not detected in the BIOS and I think I may need to flash the BIOS. Trouble is that I'm not sure how to flash the BIOS from a CDRW. If someone here can provide me with some instructions, that would be greatly appreciated.

good question! mine would only work from a floppy drive (when not using Winflash)

I am about to get my Z71V in the next 2 hours.

how do i flash bios? Do I download the bios drivers from ASUS website and then just double click on the exe file and it will do the rest or how?

download the zip from asus, extract the zip, then u will see a .rom file. Install winflash if u havnt yet, then find where the rom file is, and flash using winflash. Took me a total of 20sec, longest part was dlin the file from the chinese server
