I've decided to get myself a T42 2379R1U. I was basically decided on it, but stumbling into this forum really solidified my decision based on many of your high praises for the ThinkPad's durability and overall performance.
But now that I'm going to get one, in my research it's become abundantly clear that the 256MB standard memory is not enough. IBM's upgrade prices being insane as they are, I'm definitely going to be upgrading on my own.
My question is: For those of you who have upgraded your laptop memory, but especially those who have upgraded ThinkPads, do you have any advice as to brand selection?
I'm looking to get a 1GB stick. When I maxed out my Aptiva 2163-580 a few years ago, I went with Crucial and have been pleased with it and not had any problems, but their 1GB stick is up around $200. I'm hoping to not spend quite that much on it.
Any advice or experiences will be much appreciated.
