Would Anyone Care to Enlighten Me About Speaker Troubles?

Hey.

Now, I have a laptop and a desktop. I also use the Audigy 2nx USB sound card and Klipsch 2.1 speaker system. When I run this set-up on my laptop, I experiene no problems at all but when I switch over to my desktop I hear popping and skipping noises with any audio that plays. I've tryed reinstalling the drivers from the disk and to no avail. The fact that everything works perfectly on my laptop is just kinda weird to me.

So, can any help me out? It'd be greatly appreciated.

u use the nx on the desktop? if so, try using onboard sound, if not try using the nx, and respond with any changes

What sound card are you using on the desktop?

My parent's onboard audio has the same issues on start up. Generally, it's PCI bus contention - the sound card is fighting with the rest of the devices (such as your HDD), and losing the battle.

A dedicated sound card uses less CPU, so will have less stuttering, skipping and popping.
