new Sager 3880 vs. Asus z71v - Page 2

the sager is nice.. i'm guessing they have a normal size battery. it isn't butt ugly.. i think it looks average IF the battery isn't sticking out.. they have more screen options.. soo that's a plus

I'd definitely go with the W1 refresh over this and the Z71V... but I'm not sure how teh x700 will handle inside the small W1 case (heat issues may become a problem). So this larger, more capable 3880 may be the answer. It still ways a bit more than either the W1 or Z71V, and with that 12-cell it may not be that appealing. We'll see in time, however.

Good luck. In the end look for the better price. if anything...

Speaking subjectively,

I was really looking forward to the Sager 3880 because it had that sleek, squarish quality that I felt the Z71V was sorely lacking. It looked really solid, up until I saw the cancerous outgrowth coming out from the bottom. It really stuck out like a sore thumb. It even adds a significant angle tilt to it due to its size. Also, its predecessor (the 3790) had quite a bit of heat issues and I'm not entirely convinced that the problem was alleviated with the 3880.

Anyway that's my 2 cents.

that 3880 looks killer with a 6-cell. What’s the battery life though? The plus are the power, the minus are the heat/battery length.

PS- There was no flame war. It was just a misunderstanding

the Z71V itself is a puker.... What I am saying is that it's absolutley hillarious that your saying that the Sager is "butt ugly" while yours isn't anything to write to mom about. I find this extremely amusing.
What the hell do you know? Do you actually own a Z71? Have you ever seen a Z71 in real life? Don't make judgements on anything you've never laid eyes on. And stop calling yourself the biggest Asus fan in the forums, because, well your not. You bought an Acer. A hardcore Asus fan would by only Asus.

Ok rant over.

design is subjective. As they say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." If the 3880 had the same battery life and weight of the 3790, it would have been high on my list. But I can't justify the extra weight and extended battery of the 3880. Like I said in the Sager forums, I'll keep my Z71v.

Well it’s a strange world we live in when people are commenting on the Z71V being ugly, although they have never seen this laptop face to face apart from viewing photos. Makes me mad
For me the Z71V was a perfect choice at this moment in time.
I needed something with great performance at a good price that can last me a couple of years. Like what has been commented on before in another post there is no point for me paying quid’s in for a more expensive laptop such as the TM8104, when the Z71V offers same performance at a lower price.

Ok lets keep it civil. Its just a computer.
Stress kills.

exactly. see my post on the last page. what looks good to some people doesn't look good to others. You don't have to get all worked up just because someone else doesn't like the look of your notebook. They're obviously not buying one, so who really cares? There's no reason to get worked up about a personal preference.

UM just to let you know the first bar is the stock speed and the second is the oc'd speed
post #33 of 50
yeah, apparently the 6600 in the Sager 3880 overclocks like crazy!
I like how the 3880 has a 15.4" WUXGA option!!! 1920x1200 on a 15.4" Widescreen!!!!!!!!!!

Haha I have an Asus S5N. Shows what you know . Do you want to see some pictures of my S5N? Your such a Z71V fanboy and your getting your panties in a bunch, dont piss yourself because I like the Z71V as well. We're on the same boat and your getting pissed off at a little comment.

[Sarcasm] OMG I DIDNT BUY A SECOND ASUS AND I CANT BE A BIG ASUS FAN OMG I CANT BE AN ASUS FAN BECAUSE I BOUGHT AN ACER THE WORLD IS GOING TO END BECAUSE I CANT CALL MYSELF AN ASUS FAN [/sarcasm] Let me call the care police for you...

You obviously weren't here everytime I tried to defend Asus when I first joined or when I was trying to start an Asus cult when I first got my Asus S5N. (Enderet if your reading this remember when we had an arguement vs the S5 and Panasonics?) Give me a break.

Also I find this extremely funny since you can't see the parallel of me defending the Sager from someone calling it ugly since they probably have never seen it before in real life. If you've actually read my posts I'm not attacking the Z71V I'm merely pointing out the hillarity of someone calling a notebook "butt ugly" when his notebook is no W1, W2, S5, M6, or powerbook etc. Do you understand why this is IRONIC?

You don't have to see something in real life to determine if it is ugly or pretty. Think about it, most of us have never seen Natalie Portmann or Keria Knightly in real life, but they are both major hotties. I also have never seen Hillary Clinton or Laura Bush in real life, but they aren't hot at all!!!

that just goes to show you: 20-something women in films are more attractive than 50+ year old first ladies. Oh, wait a sec, that's obvious!

Going to keep this short.

I never said you didn't own an Asus. And it was more than one comment.

News: I have been a member longer than you. I know you defended Asus a lot, and I respect that. But that doesn't give you the right to name yourself.

So calling a notebook "a puker" and "isn't anything to write to mom about" is not attacking the Z71v?

Don't name yourself? Your joking right? Dont name yourself Programmer / Technician then. If that's the case then your being as pretentious as me if I can't name myself .

You obviously still do not understand why I posted what I did. Let me quote my post for you...

Do you not understand why it's stupid to call a notebook "Butt ugly" when the notebook their comparing it to is 1) their notebook and 2) not exactly the greatest looking laptop on this side of the planet.

Like when you joined, how many posts or how much you've spammed the reputation thread has any bearing at all to your arguement. Oops I forgot my sarcasm tags...
