My 700m keeps losing wireless connection

Hey,

My 700m will lose its wireless connection every 10 minutes or so, and then reconnect within 2 seconds. The reason I know it does this is because my AOL Instant Messenger says: Internet connection lost : Reconnecting, 3 minutes left. Then it will go and log me back on... Anyone have an idea of how to fix this?? Could it be my wireless router? I have a Netgear.

check if any wireless phones have the same frquency of your router. Cechk your firewall of the router and windows, some programs mess up with the connections too, I have troubles with some versions of limewire, if non of this help you call your ISP.

flash to new bios A03, which addresses a DHCP issue which may be causing it. update your wireless driver. try uninstalling proset (go to add/remove clicking on like you are removing it, and then just selecting modify to keep the drivers and to uninstall the program). check to see that the wireless card is not set on power save mode where the computer can shut it down.

i also believe there is a timeout function in aol messenger, that may be giving you this problem.

if you aren't having any problems with the router from other wireless devices, then it isn't the router. don't get into the hype about linksys either...they have a high defect rate as well. they have improved lately though.

I made a post about this a while back for my 700m, on MSN I would disconnect every 3 minutes or so and then reconnect. People were complaining, lol. It can't be fixed, I'm convinced. I have a Linksys 54G router, I don't recommend them, lol.

I've reinstalled drivers, I've switched from Windows wireless to Intel wireless and back again, I've flash the bios, etc, etc, etc...still nothing works for me.

Sorry to bring this back, but I found that I have this problem too. Has anyone discovered a solution?

I have a linksys wrt54g extending wireless from my wired network. My 8600 signal strength and speed is always all over the charts and its frustrating. Anyone know if this problem lies within my wireless card, router, or router settings? I'm a noob to networking.

I also noticed that when I unplu and then replug the router, or disconnect and then reconnect to the wireless connection, my speed will start at 54mps and in a matter of 2 mins it will go down to 1mps. Same with the strength, it starts at excellent and goes too very low. When I set it up, it took a while to get it working, just playing around with the settings. So I may have messed some stuff up.

I have a neighbor next to me that doesn't know how to set up a router properly so she only plugs it in amd turns it on when she wants to use it. I find that if Windows finds an unencrypted wireless router it will try to connect to it. I used to think it was signal strength related but I doubt it when I am 2 feet away from my router sometimes.

I think that the software will want to connect to the unencrypted router and you will have a 2 to 5 second connection delay and then it may go back to your or it may not. After uninstalling the proset software I haven't seen the problem a lot, but it still happens. I also thought it might be heat related but it was too random to be that.

Wonder if I should invite myself over to my neighbors house for dinner and a late-night routing session, lol

same puter and router, same problem for me, changing the default channel to channel 1 fixed my issue.

New intel driver didnt help me at all, neither did the other fixes mentioned. I would connect and drop even when right next to the router with no idea why. Have cordless phones that never caused problems with other computers and the same router. Go figure

Good Luck
