Windows startup with i6000d

Hi everyone. I've been browsing these forums for a while now and the information I have learned here has helped me alot.

Anyways, my problem is I have a i6000d and this morning, booting up windows took a lot longer than usual. Then when windows is finally done loading, things seem to be more sluggish than usual. I already scanned for viruses and spyware and found nothing.

Is this a hardware issue? or just windows? Is there a way to tell?

Thanks in advance.

ps. It spends most of its time on the screen where it shows the XP logo and the blue bar moving back and forth.

First you should do a HD Defrag and a ScanDisk, if that doesnt fix your problem, probably you mess with some system files, and you need to reinstall windows

Getting rid of the unnecessary dell programs will speed up your system alot. Dell installs too many unneeded programs that slow down your computer.

Download the Startup Control Panel from http://www.mlin.net and see if there are any programs you dont need starting up.

Have you updated any drivers lately or had any hardware issues? The blue bar phase is the point at which your device drivers are being loaded. Sounds like you have a corrupted driver file that is causing the hang up.

Try going to MSCONFIG and uncheck any applets that you do not need loading at Startup. Shut down the Indexing Service.

And another thing... after windows finishes, I open up task manager, and all the processes seem to use more memory than they should be using (all but 3 are over 1k. Is this normal?) I've reinstalled most of the drivers and eliminated all the unecessary programs at start up yet it still seems slow. I also ran defrag and scan disk. I dont know waht else to do.
