does any one know a good overclock setting that wont destroy my laptop?
i run mine 360/275 during games (i could go much higher, i figure, but i dont want to risk it)
and stock for none gaming times.

ati tray tools can switch when you are using it for games... yay!

I go 390/290 and runs great. Just be sure your GPU is properly cooled and seated, not with a thermal pad but a copper heatsink.

can you explaing on how i would do the cooling part please im new
and what is a good set up that doesnt require extra cooling
post #9 of 72
Well...don't worry about that part since your new. It requires dissasembly of your computer and stuff like that. Just run the ATI tool and find your optimal settings.

maybe it would be better just get the 6800 with the 9300 for you

Using ATITool v0.0.23, I am running 420/312 when in 3D mode, and 100/100 in 2D mode (for power/heat savings).

Cheers!

wow isnt that a lil extreme? what are your bench marks? and do do any thing extra for cooling?
I benched 1709 in 3DMark05 - no additional cooling required - had it run at this speed overnight without issue and ran 3DMark 3 times in the morning to confirm the result.

Extreme? Gotta love a 4 year worry-free warranty... :-)

Cheers!

wow man ur the boss man!! u deserve a record....so does that mean that card is performs better then the 9700 and the x600 since the benchmark kicks the 9700's x600 ass? or is that just benchmarks (what i mean is will it get like better frames than those cards like in doom3)
Yes, it looks like the x300, when clocked appropriately, performs better than the mobility 9600, 9700, 9700 pro, and x600 in their stock form.

Note that Dell underclocks the x300 in the i6000D and the i9300.

By overclocking the x600, I have the feeling that it would have more potential than the x300.

As long as 3DMark05 is a representative benchmark to most games (which it is), then yes it does mean higher frame rates in games like Doom3 and HL2.

Cheers!

hmmm this is very interesting Dr. Jones very interesting indeed!! I will have to try this out and see how it does.

Cool thanks for the tips on the x300 was wondering what all I could do.

One question for you Jay.k. Are you using the Dell stock video drivers or the omega drivers?
Ainvar,

Dell stock drivers underclock the video card. I am using the Omega drivers.

Cheers!

hey jay or any one what is a stable temperature for the cpu and the GPU? mine often goes past 100 farenhiet is that ok? ive clocked mine to 366/266 with stock drivers? any advice? 1233 on 3Dmark05
post #20 of 72
My CPU/GPU runs between 30-46 Celsius. Over 100 Farenheit is fine...

Cheers!
