I have compared my Sager 8890 to my Dual 2ghz Athlon in these benches.
The Desktop is referred to as the TigerMP, because it is based on a
Tyan Tiger MP motherboard. (both have a gig of ram)

Thanks for suplying all the data. Its nice to see newer forum members becoming actively involved some how.

So how happy are you overall with your new beast of a machine?
I'd guess he's pretty dang happy with it. Certainly gives his Tiger desktop a run for its money.

I am very happy with the 8890. It is performing exactly like what I was hoping for. I'm a photographer, and when not at home or work I was getting frustrated with the performance gap of my old p3 650 mhz laptop, and my duallie at home. I also do lots of video work, and this last vacation i began a transcode that was going to take 2 days 9 hours and some minutes. That started my search for something mobile that would be as fast as what i have at home....and i found the 8890...and just couldn't get it out of my mind. I actually don't care much for benchmarking, other than initally seeing how fast something is. I do have some issues to work out. The non-dithered display at 16 bit color, haven't got video capture above 352 x288 working yet...got to do 640 x 480 minimum. Haven't tested battery life under heavy use, and I do have a second battery...just need to know how much time i have in the field - even though most work wouldn't be on battery. If i didn't have so much fear about plugging a laptop into an 500+ amp auto battery - i'd get the auto adapter. (if the even make one yet)

When are the 6-in-1 card readers suppose to ship?

That really is a question for Adam from PCTorque. He would be able to answer that question. I know(?) in another thread he said he was adding them to site and the cost would be around $40.

Not sure on their actual shipping readiness or not.

Great review. It must have taken some time to run the benchies and compile all of the data. Thanks for sharing it with us.
