I'm very anxious to see some pictures of painted models.. I'm waiting for my loan to be processed so I can puchase mine, so I'd really like to see some pictures of dif. colors before I decide which I am going to choose.

Anyone ordered with colors and have an idea when they should be recieving it?

Also, adam, when are you guys gonna show us some more finished products as far as painting goes?

The paint jobs on the first few models are being finished today and will need to be assembled and shipped out. It's a little slow at first paying attention to detail that will come naturally in the next few weeks. I'll try and get some pictures of a couple painted lids today, but no promises =).

Maybe get some shots of the PROCESS, and have a nice section on pctorque.com showing how the units are painted and reassembled?

Yes, I ordered a painted 5680 on Friday.

But I put the order on hold yesterday in when the UXGA came out for the 8890, and now I'll probably get one of those instead.

I just ordered a 5680 in a custom color (BMW Laguna Seca Blue) yesterday. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Ordered mine Wednesday last week.

I've definitely got Sagerfever. I'm constantly checking my email for a tracking number. Nuthin yet. I'll survive.

Hope I get the SXGA+ screen. SXGA will be fine too, though.

I sent an email asking if I was getting the SXGA+.
Here's Response [dated 10/01/03]: (quick turnaround on reply too! )

There's currently no way to determine whether your order will be
upgraded to SXGA+. At the moment Sager only has SXGA+ screens, so all SXGA
orders shipping in the near future are being upgraded.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else!

So I'm probably getting SXGA+

I ordered a painted Sager

Wonder if there was a big surge in sales because they just started offering it. I know I was holding out for the paint option.

I can't believe all you guys ordered painted notebooks. It's so expensive. Are you rich?

ps. standard option notebooks ship direct from PCTorque. Special options like paint, ship to PCTorque first and are then shipped out to customer.

Actually unless you live in california the standard order notebooks ship direct from sager not PCTorque.. and 325 for chameleon paint is not a bad price..when AW offered it on their notebooks i beleive regular paint was around 250 if i remember right and chameleon was like 700... 325 extra as a percentage of a 3000 dollar laptop is not really much when you look at the big picture and also the stock paint job from clevo has reputation for not staying..

Ordered a High Gloss Magenta/Gold Chameleon 8890 last night. This replaces my old order of a 5680 in the same paint color, which I put on hold when I heard about the 8890 UXGA.

I went for all the bells and whistles - 3.2 GHZ proc, dual RAID-0'ed 60x7200s, etc.

My thought on it was, if you have a kick-ass laptop, why not have it in a kick-ass style?

What do the 'chameleon' colors do? Does it switch between the two shades depending on viewing angle from surface?
