You nearly gave me a heart attack AlkalineX. I thought for a split nano-second that you said "my laptop can't run this"...

runs flawlessly on my sager. looks like a pretty interesting documentary...however it was kind of dumb how they tried to add some suspense to the trailer.

it craps out on me halfway through the download

ok it finished. wow.....i mean. wow

Wish I could download it.
I recently moved and unfortunately my new home doesn't have DSL access.
So I'm once again on ....ahem dailup . Yeah, dialup
I refuse to pay cable the rip off amount of money they want for high speed access

SBC tells me they are working in getting DSL to my area.
I'm guessing that if I started downloading this file now, by the time its finished, they'll probably have DSL here.

Believe me, once you go DSL, it really really sucks going back to dialup.

What's even worse is the lines here are so noisy that the best I get is 33.6K baud.
Which techie god did I piss off to deserve this!!!

*really misses his wireless internet*

Oh, man. That burns!!!

I know how ya feel.

When we lived in an apartment, I had DSL and it was working great. Moved to a townhose and the DSL station was over the optimal distance so it was crawling at about a third of what it was supposed to put through, not to mention disconnecting all the time. To my huge relief, a few months later, a DSL station was installed right accross the street!!! ! Now I get all that the station is capped to give me! Its awesome.

Just downloaded (cable is where its at man).

I am running out of supleratives to describe my 8890. Lets just say its the best f'ing toy I have had to work with in a long time.

That clip really gives you an idea of what the system is capable of. Again I love my SXGA super duper LCD .

If you ever needed and excuse to have one of these Sager puppies that clip is it. I have to try out some of these DVD's with 5.1 sound in them .

Edit: whilst I was downloading the clip I was copying the last of my sw from my old Toshiba. I wanted to open a program on the Toshiba so I could find a link. The Toshiba took like 2 minutes to open IE. The 8890 is sucking its brains out - literally. The poor old Toshiba just can't keep up with it...

Even though people started switching to DSL quite a while ago, cable is still slow because too many people are too lazy to switch or just dont care about speeds.

Personally, I think DSL rules. I like having a dynamic IP (more secure), not being bogged down with neighbours eating up the bandwidth, and having 1.5Mbps download speeds (clean; raw is 1.7).

You 'merkins don't know what you are missing. Our cable system here in Oz flies. We get full bandwidth (no caps) and because cable here is not used by many people, I get all the bandwidth to myself .

DSL here sux bigtime. Unreliable, slow and expensive relative to cable. If you are in Oz cable is definitely it.

How long should download take?

I clicked on the link, and said save to computer. It says it will take 8 minutes.

I have a brand new Cable package--Modem--wireless.

How do I know if my service is providing me top speed?

Thanks--Mike

divide 100 Mbytes by 8 minutes - that will give you your cable's transfer (download) speed.

Then I have no quarrel with you, good sir. Cable really does suck in Ontario, though (for the above reasons, lmao).
